You put away the controller and play with a mouse and keyboard.

You could probably have it set so you could switch between them while ingame, having a key on the controller that switches to keyboard, and the same thing with the keyboard that switches to the controller a macro in a way.

Don't really know how'd you be able to do that with a controller but i think it's not impossible.

And btw why is everyone being mean to him? he prefers to play with a controller i dont see anything wrong with that.

Press T ingame to bring up the chat. You can't rename weapons while the controller is active, but t should bring up the chat box when in a game or lobby.

Err... the voice chat is up button on controller.
The text chat is T on keyboard.

Because you're handicapping yourself, dragging down your team's performance, and refusing to communicate efficiently, if you use a controller.

I wonder why the OP is asking how to open ingame chat while using a controller? I guess he isn't refusing to communicate right?

Some people play better with a controller some people play better with a keyboard and mouse, dont assume he is doing these things when you havent played with him personally.

It's preference.

You only play better with a controller if you've never used a KB+M before.

If you can't communicate while using a controller, then you're refusing to communicate if you choose to use one.

It is not preference: Using a KB+M for a shooting game is objectively better. You saying this is preference is like saying someone can compete in fighting games using a Keyboard: You can't. Keyboards are awful at playing fighting games, and the only practical use I've ever heard is using macros for throw-heavy characters.

It's not preference, lots of people are missing finger or hands, or have mobility issues in their fingers/wrists. For me playing a game with a mouse and keyboard for more than 5-10 minutes causes pain and discomfort, so I've been playing with a 360 controller since before the launch of PDTH on steam. All these idiots commenting about controller being a handicap have no idea what a handicap is.

If you wanna use pesant controllers, stick with pesant consoles.

In your case, it's not a preference, it's a necessity. You're phyically unable to use a controller due to the pain, so you're forced to use a controller. That's a necessity, not preference. It's still a handicap, since you're performing worse than you would were you able to use a KB+M comfortably. It would only be a preference if you CHOSE to have the mobility/hand issues you're talking about.

Quiet, you. Controllers are useful.

360 controller is supported on payday 2 and it has custom keys for it, he isn't refusing to communicate this whole thread is asking about how to open ingame chat for payday 2 he probably wants to talk to people ingame if he is asking about it.

IT IS preference.

There is no need for everyone to tell him to delete his game or switch to a keyboard and mouse you guys aren't answering his question.
