Cloakers - and why they suck in Payday 2
So, one argument all those Cloaker defenders on the forums always bring up, is that they were around in Payday 1.
After playing Payday 1 a bit myself and still being annoyed as hell by Payday 2 Cloakers, I can now tell you that that argument is incredibly flawed.
In Payday 1 Cloakers would punish you for being reckless, running off alone or being careless. They wouldn't just jump out of nowhere normally and one-hit you.
On Payday 2 they're so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buggy, you can't run from them. You see them from across a hallway, suddenly he's on you in a second. In Payday 1 you can run around a corner or up some stairs and escape him, in Payday 2 as soon as the "zzzzt" starts, you're down, unless you shoot him in the face until he's dead. He will just follow you around 3 corners and up the stairs without touching the floor again. He will jump at you over 3 obstacles and from 20 meters.
They are just buggy and that's what makes them unfair and annoying and nothing is more infuriating than wiping on DW because of buggy Cloakers.
Either fix them or take them out of the game!

Cloakers have already been signifigantly nerfed since being released. They are less apt to kick, the cooldown time between kicks is much longer, and they always duck walk around making them easy to spot.

What makes them a PITA is that they changed the sound so it's completely inaudible to anyone over age 22.

I can't hear their sound at all any longer, and where it was previously rare that I got downed by them, it happens all the time.

How about you grab the new counter strike skill. Being able to melee incoming cloakers makes them much less of a threat

yeah sure, waste about 50 skillpoints to unlock one skill that even requires you to have your melee weapon charged to counter an INSTAND one-hit on you... yeah, great suggestion, Einstein...

You can actually trick them, it's just hard and kinda not great to learn if ur not the host, with all the lag this game has

Yes, that's the point of enemies
I wouldn't say they're unfair tho

nonsense. You can't tell me they're working as intended. They often just stand around somewhere and suddenly you're dead, because of desync issues etc. Yep, really great.

You can run away from them! (Just not in your ICTV). Are they annoying? Yeah, sometimes. Are they OP? No. I can oneshot them with my Loco, easier than killing a Shield or even Bulldozer. And if you have 2 guys with Inspire they are even less of a threat...

Be paranoid and have a good shot. If they don't glitch around (like they do a lot), they're really easy to deal with if you're paranoid.

What you don't realize is that while he has the ability to one hit down you, you have the ability to one hit him aswell.

I wouldn't have such a problem with them if they just fixed them up a bit. I see them glitching through walls and pillars all the time. The Rats house is a great example for that. Sometimes they'll jump right through the railing on the driveway stairs, down you, and then end up in the basement somehow.

I don't mind them. They go down pretty easy with headshots. But they're still pretty buggy, and they haven't even tried to fix it.

This problem is made even worse by the new Free Hoxton map. I've watched mobs spawn direclty in front of me, something you're not suppose to see. Mobs also spawn directly behind you, literally. So a Cloaker spawned, the screen started to turn, then I was flashbanged and then dead.

There is no reflex, timing or trick to countering this. You're simply dead, reload and try again. There is no skill, talent or amount of practice that will avoid this. You're being punished for lazy, sloppy coding.

At least in Payday 1 you had an opportunity to defend yourself from them while still mainting a threat and tension.

I'm loving all the content that Overkill have spawned for this game, but sadly it's being done at the expense of polishing the existing content.

INB4 I'm stupid, my opinion is wrong, I'm a noob, etc etc.
