So how does Hostage Taker work exactly?
The capstone perk in the crew chief deck.
Gives you and your crew extra health and stamina for every hostage up to 10.

What I want to know, is how that extra health/stamina is applied.

Do you lose health and stamina when civilians get recued?
Or do you get permanent bonuses up to 10 concurrent hostages?

Or maybe it keeps the extra health/stamina until you lose it, then refills you back to your new max based on your lower hostage amount?

You get a scaling bonus from 1 to 10 hostages (civilians, cops or your own jokers). If you lose a hostage, you lose part of the bonus. Your relative health will not change as you gain/lose the bonus.

So without getting into the raw numerics too much.

Can I infer that each hostage (up to 10) makes your health and stamina bar worth more?
So while the bars don't change per se, each hostage makes them worth more, and when you lose one, it's worth less.

I suppose you could look at it that way. The bonus stacks additively with itself and with other health bonuses. If you have 100 base and current health and take 1 hostage, you get 102 max and current health. If you have 5 and get a 6th, you go from 110 to 112.

But when I lose a hostage, does it go from 110 to 108, or does only my max health go to 108 and my current stays at a temporary 110?

Your current health remains at the same relative level. If you had 50% health before gaining or losing a hostage, you will have 50% after. It'll just be 50% of a different number.

Allright, that makes sense.

So keeping hostages around basically makes your health and stamina bars worth more.
So 10 hostages at 50% health being worth 60 health versus 0 hostages and 50 health.

It can almost be viewed as a small amount of damage reduction, since taking 10 Damage from a pool of 120 is worth about 9% instead of 10% of your healthbar.
It also probably scales really well with a teammate using the Muscle Deck.

Thanks!

That is one o f the bonuses that I REALLY don't care for.
