Akimbo
After trying out the Akimbo guns I think they are not as bad as everyone has been saying. I have found a use for them and that for me is running around cops and shooting them in the back very quickly, in particular shields.

Though the three main problems are simply:

1) They are a primary Weapon...
I think Overkill has over anticipated the power of Akimbo, they certainly seem like a secondary weapon, if so, then they could be a good secondary to say a sniper or another powerful primary, However for now they are primary which means you cannot bring a decent other weapon (some good secondaries, but cannot compare to having a primary). This is the biggest turn off to bring akimbo, if they patch it to be a secondary, I think they become more viable.

2)Mastermind skills do not affect them..
Ok this one is a bit of a joke, I am not sure if this is intended but this needs to be patched, and soon. I did not spend god knows how many skills points for pistol messiah, equilibriam etc so that when I could finally use akimbo pistols all of that goes out the window. I really want to use Akimbo, and as I said I see a use for them. I do not want them to be buffed or radically changed, just want a few tiny changes that to me seem completely logical.

3) Limitation on what guns can Akimbo
Ok I, for starters, like the current selection of guns there are for akimbo, but there needs to be more. I never wanted to akimbo anything other than pistols, but given we have so many pistols I was expecting more than 5. To be honest though I think this is just a start and within time (hopefully soon) the rest of the pistols will be added and maybe some SMG's as well, if we are good!


So in conclusion,
Make Akimbo guns secondary
Let the mastermind skills affect the Akimbo guns
Add a wider selection of guns to Akimbo

And I would just like to thank overkill for all the new content (FREE!) and I really like the changes being made. I have been playing since the beta and personally love all the dlc and changes and patches that have been made from then to now. Massive respect to all the devs and for anyone who keeps bashing them on these forums, stop being a bunch of whiney, ungrateful, self entitled fellows and become a colection of good chaps who are not fools.

I actually prefer that they are a primary. I finally have a primary gun I want to use.

Also they seemed pretty reasonable right now and may get buffed if the MM skills not impacting them wasn't intentional.

I was SHOCKED at how viable they were (also fun).

I like them, aside from the lack of skill bonuses applying to them.... the only other thing I would change is get rid of that irritating double-tap thing. One shot per mouse click, not two :(

I think that might make the bernettis worse actually.. though it might be more satisfying? halving the rate of fire seems like a negative though.

my guess as to why there are so few and they don't benifit from MM skills is that hoxtons skill tree is pretty much confirmed to have Akimo in it. and thus akimbo skills.

Yeah this. A pure pistol mastermind would be great fun, and pretty viable if Akimbo weapons ever get pistol skills.

Agree , if akimbo was a secondary then it would be a lot viable in harder difficulties , or even if it stacked with the MM perks .
They made saw a secondary with the perk , so perhaps a MM top/2nd tier perk to allow Akimbo to be secondary??

And yeah double tap is slightly irritating would prefer 1shot /click (animation would be awesome)

It's actually not that huge of a deal breaker to me that they are primaries, because for example, the desert eagle does 50 damage a shot, and akimbo shoots 2 shots in quick succession. So you are doing shotgun style damage with a high rate of fire weapon. But I think that there should be a level in the perk deck that makes akimbo a secondary, and without a doubt mastermind skulls should work with it. It's so much fun to use but they just need to fix it a little bit

I'm fine with akimbo pistols being a primary but I think the ammo they carry needs to be looked at. The 2Xbernettis and CCPs onlys get 40 more rounds or so while the 2Xcrosskills and the deagles get's their ammo doubled. I was also hoping for akimbo strikers but I guess we'll get more akimbo weapons later. Lastly the pistol perks from MM need to be applied to these weapons otherwise they're just novelty weapons.

It's definitely very rushed, and these changes are clearly needed. Hopefully Overkill goes back and looks them over to make sure they properly fit, instead of just leaving it as a, "Thank god we got that cross-promotion done."

I think for the Akimbo's as a primary? they should fix the mechanics with them? I feel like they should be able to fire the guns by alternating the shots by using "V" to change from firing both and single's when they are using them? I really didn't like the mechanic where I have to shoot both of them since its harder to pinpoint my shots. not to mention which weapons where you can duel wield. smg's are ok shot guns vary, Assault rifles no, and saw's no... I wanna use it so much I feel they should patch those in.

It was intentional, considering the Fugitive is going to contain a few Akimbo Skills (the minimum is the unlock of Akimbo without the Perk Deck)

You can take an assault rifle which deals 50 damage, alongside more ammo, better accuracy, and better stability.

Also, a shot from a single pistol instantly affects the other [which looks extremely silly, when you only have one bullet left in the right pistol. The left pistol kicks up for no reason and the animation for the shot is actually played], so you have to be EXTREMELY close for both of them to hit the head.

I think leaving them in primary is ok. They have lots of ammo so damage is not a problem. Just spray bullets like with some SMG. The ammo pick ups are also pretty good especially on bernettis.
Akimbo is really good on OK difficulty or less. On DW you need heavily modded guns and ceratin skills. Like equilibrium, leadership, fully unlocked hitman perkdeck.
Even on DW these guns can easily take out weaker targets like snipers, fbi units, green swats. They kill specials pretty fast, even tazers. Well, when it comes to dozers Akimbo is less effective as pistols have low stability, low damage. But in close range they waste dozers like some KSP or Gecko.

I for one like akimbo being primary, because that means if Overkill were to let MM skills affect akimbo pistols, you could actually make a full-on pistol build. And that intrigues me.
