I've got a pretty crappy connection, and routinely play with the same crew. On bad days, we have issues like what you're describing.
For the crash issue, uninstall any mods you have and validate your files (everyone, not just the host). I find that fixes a number of issues that crop up.
Sadly, I've no specific heist tips to share with you. My normal crew is only 3 people, and Death Wish combat heists are a real challenge for us.
Take out each gang member silently and just go one-by-one. It's not easy and may take a few tries, but it does work. You have to have the plane keys on day 1, otherwise day 2 is a mess. Once you've taken out all the gang members, you can just drill the safe and use ECMs to open ATMs, get what you need and exit. Day 2 is not terribly different. You stealth all the way until the chopper arrives, but before that, you should already have the right engine ready. Someone should use a delaying ECM to delay the arrival of the cops before the chopper comes. Once it goes loud, you should only have a few minutes before you can escape via the plane. When we did it, we loaded the engine into the chopper which was near the pool area, then ran as fast as we could back to the plane and just hid under this log until the plane became an escape zone. A few of us went down, but having multiple people with Inspire is obviously a must. We all made it out and most of it was just stealth.
I could try the reinstall to stop the crashes though as I have hoxhud, but the others do not and I think they experience it without me. I will have to double check that though.
Cheers for the reply. :)
Anyone know of any tricks like the bag trick to minimise the issues?. We thought of the shutters on day 2 to solve the computer issue but thats only if we get the code. Like i said its our last mission but we are begining to lose the will to play lol.
As for day 2 we use our ECMs on the doors mostly so we are hesitant. We probably should just be more willing to use them so probably will keep that in mind thanks. Maybe give up ammo bags for more. That will make survival harder. Unfortunatly the cameras auto spotting things like the drill issue, or picking up guards alerted doesnt give us much time. To be honest weve come this far so we wont give up but it seems to be the most frustrating mission, even if the engine idea is one of the best.
Also that log is awesome. We relied on it a lot but then we discovered the high chance of the helicopter spawning at the pool. Boy did that take us by surprise. When we made it from the front all the way to the back we had such little health we didnt survive long enough for the chopper.
Oh another thing. One of our team has a lower graphics and cannot physically read the clipboards, notes and screens... Are there other giveaways or is it just impossible for him?.
Use that, it's quite helpful. We all brought ECMs on day 2, just to delay the assault and open doors. The assault only lasted about 1-2 minutes after we threw the engine into the chopper before we were able to escape via plane. When you get to the log, don't engage anyone and just wait for them to come to you. Definitely need 2+ people with Inspire.
If you don't care about being shameful, have somneone leave at the beginning of day 2, respec into stealth, come back and begin the hack. Guards often alert on the computer being hacked, so rpay to RNGesus. It's easiest if you farm 3 guards at the front gate. If you have some time to kill, you can kill and use up all 4 pagers > new guard spawns > wait a few minutes > guard leaves.. then you will only have 2 guards on the map. When things go loud, stealth guy leaves, respecs again, comes back in combat built and armor.
My friends and I actually just did Death Wish big oil today. Went loud all the way through. Went loud on day 1, and went straight in on d2, sawed open pc room door, hacked in combat, grabbed the engine, camped at runway and left. This way is a bit more difficult than the shameful way, but it sure is fun! Also, be sure to look for clues BEFORE the wave starts ;)
Aside from that, have all players validate their local cache. (Seriously, even if you don't think you could possibly have broken files. It's amazing what just breaks, and how many problems a simple file check can fix.)
Though, Payday 2 is a very low intensity game (hardware wise). If one of your buddies has a computer that can't handle the graphics, he may be your weak link.
Day 2 will be more troubling, I reckon. Let the cops steal the engine and try to spot when the assault is ending and go out the side door. Use the shutters to spot the correct server room early. I'd suggest bringing at least one batch of shape-charges if you think you can afford it.
Try and stick together and remember that you can always delay the objective. You can still get the plane keys after they're burned. If you haven't got the lab open, hold out upstairs in one of the side room areas and don't split up. They're gonna hammer you with Cloakers constantly so stay alert for those.
When the lab is open, hold out in the intersection just outside and retreat into the lab if necessary, but don't hold out IN the lab or you may get pinned.
Still, just get the whole thing over and done with as quickly as possible, I'd say!
Host plus one (maybe) clears house, floor by floor. Hit hard and quiet. Silent Loco does well, since breaking a window is an automatic alert.
If you don't find the plane keys, I'd honestly just start over.
Coke deal? Do over.
once you've cleared the house, someone get on the cameras and cycle them real quick, so you can track down the wanderers outside. They won't be a big problem, but especialy if someone has HoxHud and can tell if the map is clear.
Day 2, go with 8 maxxed out ECMs and know how to find the right engine. If everyone is on the same page, the 8(!) minutes of jamming will be plenty to bounce out before the first wave begins(provided you hacked open the basement door in stealth).
The stealth man hacking the computer is in suit only, he must carry the engine to runway, and another teammate should have Inspire basic, to give the speed boost.
Once the basement door is open, chain the ECM rush. Everyone run in (NO KILLING) discern the correct engine, and shout the suit man out the door while one runner flares the chopper.
EDIT: I have a fantastic interrnet connection, and so does my usual host. But even with that, I am shocked to watch the desync in Payday2. His character has appeared to be out on the street while I'm aware that he is actually 2 floors in. Navigate and coordinate by voice on day one. Don't trust your eyes.
EDIT 2: Inspire doesn't work in whisper mode, so please disregard my dummyness on that subject.
You are so right. Disregard that.
Yeah puzzlefox, we have probably done day one more times loud than stealth due to bugging out but weve had more failures because of it too. Sadly as we all want the mask noone can leave as the leaver cannot unlock the achievment.
Lexaeus, thats possible???. We have thrown grenades that cause an instaspot with ecms on. We even had an empty map after actually managing to stealth kill everyone, yet someones misfire of their unsilenced gun caused the cops to come. Is that a thing specific with the grenade launcher? If so, that could be very helpful.
Hey Derek, yeah we have found out a while ago that he has more issues than all of us but only he tends to see them when im host. Hes usually backup in full armour waiting outside if it all goes wrong. The issues we all experience seem in sync to us all but still bugs happen regardless of who I'm with. Does mean we are a man down stealth wise but usually its not a problem. And its a godsend having backup when it all goes down, hes usually the guy fixing the drills in day 1.
Lucky Charm, we usualy die pretty fast anywhere in that house. If its not cloakers kicking us through the walls its a skulldozer combo ruining our day. Probably a lot more possible in full gear but we like to get the keys whenever possible which burn instantly and only sometimes can be picked up. I find my crew has a better chance of getting them as i do as host so i think its actually another bug being able to. When they host, I can retrieve them.
Thanks for the details there Walter. Because we get tired of paying for the mission we tend to continue with whatever we get but it always seems a waste of time in the end lol. Seems like the general concensus for day one is luck. We seem to be doing the right thing but it appears to be the bugs that screw us. After all no other mission has these issues, its all to do with the hivemind. Unless the grenade launcher thing works we will probably just keep at it and hope for fairness. For day 2, ecms are definatly seeming the way to go. We are so busy worrying about opening the doors with the ecms we forget how much time we can delay them. Although as we need to open doors and drills are... untrustworthy to say the least, we will probably never have 8 ecms by the lab. Should hopefully be enough time anyway. Oh and thanks for mentioning you have issues too, we believe its the games net code but we always second guess. Knowing its a known thing means people who do it, can do it with the problems so we can too. We have some pretty funny recordings of bugs, including civilians being cabletied across the map, bags being in two places at once, people walking through walls and so on. Thinking of making a compilation.
Thanks for the offer slave for one but we got a full crew and would like to do it at the same time. :)
Cheers guys for the help I appreciate it
Basically, Day 1, stealth it. If you get alerted, restart. Have one or two guys work together, having "Shinobi" aced is essential, otherwise killing one guard will alert the rest in such tight spaces. Start at the basement, work your way up, and don't let any of them get a shot off. If you really want to game the system, look for the plane keys asset.
Day 2, stealth again. Three guys loaded for war, one guy stealthing the house. There are plenty of guides to stealthing it, just take out a few guards out of sight, wait for your moment, and hope you're lucky and they don't walk by an open door. Grab the engine, get to the helipad, drop it off, and chill out by the plane in the ditch with ammo and health. Kill everything that moves. We barely managed to hold together with two guys bringing shotguns and LMG's (because they thought we would be holding out in the house for some reason), and died trying to run across the field to the helicopter. If we'd had the plane keys, we would have escaped.
It's tough, and requires a lot of luck, but it's doable, and you need at least one really good Ghost.
