Free weekend or free forever?

Here on steam it says two days left, hence seems like free weekend.

However I see a lot of people mentioning it's free forever, like L4D2 was around a year ago.

Which is it?

Payday the Heist is free forever if you are part of the Payday 2 community.

I thought payday 2 was just discounted.

What I don't get is: It says, download it and keep it forever. Is it that I may play it afterwards for as long as I want to FROM THE STUFF that I downloaded, or may I delete/redownload after the Crimefest, whenever I want ... So, if I wipe my hard desk/buy a new computer, this will be gone or what? I'm not complaining, just confused by the wording.

The Heist game if downloaded is yours forever, it will be connected to your steam account.
Just like Sniper Elite v2 and Left 4 Dead 2 some time ago.

Payday 2 is only for a few days, then it expires.

Download it now to activate it and it is yours, if you don't download you won't get it.

When you download it during this 24 hour window, it essentially treats it like you have purchased the game. So yes, you may redownload it as many times as you want in the future via your account.

Ah, ok, that makes sense (it doesn't, but I know what I have to do ;)). Why not making it 100% free for the time? (like buy it for 0$), so that you have the entry in your library without causing additional (but I believe for Steam neglible) serverloads by people downloading PD1, then deleting it.

That is how it works, you don't actually have to download it.

does this mean that more ppl will play payday1 now? or will the server population just be as low as it always is??
i bought pd1 months before i bought pd2..

pd1 game hours - less than 70.
pd2 game hours - 950+.

Yea, i just wanna ask , they are giving away 5 million free copies of payday 2 for 7 days.I have downloaded it,but wanna ask will i have this forever or until the 7 days expire,
