Uh, supposedly infiltrator has it's uses. Gambler's okay, ♥♥♥♥♥ over Zerker users however.
If you are a doger, you wont either Rouge or Crook.
If you use armor, you should use either Muscle or Armorer.
If you play in a Team and you use armor, you can use Gambler or Crew Chief so are able to help your Teammates.
The others are, in my opinion, more or less useless.
Hitman reduces your armor and give in exchange just a faster recovery rate.
Infiltrator is focused on melee weapons, but to be honnest, when do you ever use melees in Payday?
Sociapath is actually a mix containing some aspects from Muscle, Hitman and Infiltrator. It´s kinda usefull, but I wouldn´t use it on Death Wish.
Burgular is the only real stealth perck deck, so actually useless for loud heists.
And if you are on overkill or below, gambler is great
I use crook too with bulletproof but for swap am forced to pack a pistol and invest into gunslinger as well limiting my primary to gl's or snipers so can carry my weight vs hvy units.
Well apart from the minor buff from gunslinger and that is only pistols there is nothing else to speed weapon swap up, If a skill was added that gave even half of what rogue gives i would use other decks.
Im not saying the other decks are useless just not fast enough for me.
Rogue for Dodge.
Armorer... no real reasons to get it. It's actually a weak option even for Techforcers with the measely 30+ extra armor and faster regen.
Crew Chief is the only perk that allows you to mark the Sniper near your escape van on Rats Day 1 from the 2nd floor windows with Dominator Aced. This is also the range in which bot heisters can mark. Hostage Situation... can help Dodge players who sprint a lot. It's pretty much the auras perk of the group.
Hitman... not so sure. The only reason you wouldn't mind losing armor for armor regen is when your armor is already so low that one hit will drop it back to 0, and that's when you also want dodge. Very... dodgey. Might as well get Akimbo from Fugitive tree.
Burglar... Never used it for loud. Somebody tell me the use for loud. Pretty sure this is meant for stealth. Came with Clover pack and she's one heck of a burglar so...
Infiltrator... for you melee nerds. The damage reduction is only noticeable on the high damage cops like Broncops, with Snipers and Green+Blackdozer still giving you the middle finger.
Sociopath... for you Jacket fans. I don't have this perk so I can't comment. Do you like hurting people? Probably stacks with Bullseye, not sure.
Gambler is a fun perk, but I never tried it for DW. The ammo pickup is neat when your crew didn't bring ammo bags for the trigger-happy players, but if you are going to bank it on the ammo, with or without armor, you are playing it risky and the health bonus won't recover much of the damage you took.
Anything is viable and I've run with most things on DW just fine (Even burgler when I forgot to switch out after a solo stealth run one time.. oops).
Really just depends on your playstyle, your own skill and build.
For instance I play Crook 99% of the time yet a lot of people here will tell me that it's crap - and then I'll go and play a DW game and watch a bunch of rogue fugi players drop like flies and myself perform better than them anyway.. so nothing is set in stone or absolute.
Play what you want and are good at.
How do you use it? I'm curious. Do you play with heavy armor, or lighter armor? Are you using Bullseye? Are you able to get the full potential of the HP regen out of Sociopath?
I've tried it for a while, but melee in this game is too unreliable to make kills with it every 5 seconds, so I've resorted to Infiltrator, which is very nice.
Gambler is good for holdout heists (rats being the most famous one) but of course only on ICTV users imo.
Burglar for the heists you plan on full stealthing and that actually require you to answer pagers or lockpick a door (this is kinda a lot of heists so pretty good return of investment.)
You have builds that are only good with certain perk decks (like the LMG panic build)
a crew chief is always decent to have with multiple armor wearers but the user kinda has to wear an ICTV (just my opinion again)
