Why do you think Hector betrayed the PAYDAY gang?
Title. Do you think he betrayed them simply for money or do you think that there is more to it than just cash?

Isn't it a bit late to discuss that?

Pretty sure he was forced into it to avoid jail.

I'd change the title if I were you cause spoilers (Just in case). You're also extremely late.
There is no "thinking" about it. We already know why.

It's pretty explicit once you hear the tapes all around the house

Plus:

Hector knew the gang before Payday 2 because he's the one who bought the First World Bank secret vault gold

Pretty much the moment he tried to play his "hand" (or what he THOUGHT was his hand) to get rid of the Mendozas using the crew, while still being within arm's reach of the feds, he'd be doomed. At that point he'd never be able to get out of the country, nevermind stay out of custody for more than 5 minutes.

At that point, the question becomes "why WOULDN'T he betray the crew". Because, really, what does he have to lose, other than his life to them. (and he's the one with the superiority complex.)

I told you he'd be pissed at us if we kept blowing up his meth lab!

It's really because FBI nabbed him and it was either snitch or go to prison. Though someone did suggest a cute theory as to how Hector knew about us even before the events of Payday 2.

Remember those junkies we hit in Panic room?

I always thought those were Cobras, and that leaded to them trying to ♥♥♥♥ the gang up in Rats day 2

To be honest it'd make more sense if they were with Hector, as they were colombians apparently. Though I guess we'll never know

After all,"plot" and "Payday" aren't words that go that well together :P

Which is kinda sad, since I'd love to hear more about this crazy universe. But judging from what's going on the Hoxton saga's the closet we'll get to any major development, and even then that was pretty lackluster.

What a thrill.

To be fair, there were different plans for PD2 that could fit a plot. The crew being made by 3 new members to take Dallas' s, Hoxton ' s and Chains' s mantle plus the good old Wolf, Bain training them for the biggest score ever, the old members were supposed to be contractors, etc.
Plus the Rat was most likely already planned to double cross the crew The spectacular run of bad luck Bain mentions in the introduction of a Hector job

Because he was the only disposable contractor.

Even though he wasn't close to the gang, he wouldn't have had the information and other silly things like it makes no sense with the previously established "story" (for example that according to the web series which introduced him he had no direct contact with Bain between Overdrill in the first game and his PD2 heists yet had enough "information" to sell out the gang he'd never met or had contact with to the FBI... I guess he told them they wore clown masks and suits)

I think dirty cops threated his family or friends into ratting out the Payday gang, they mostly probably did it because of the 100s of dead cops who most of which probably had family's

Or because Hector was the one who fenced the Mayan gold, from the Payday Crew, and got caught.
After he was arrested, he struck a deal with the FBI, so he would be able to maintain his leadership position, which he is to be the next leader of the Sinloan Cartel.

Which makes absolutely zero sense. He never met them or Bain ever, so how was he able to sell them out to the FBI when he wasn't ever someone "close" to them? He wouldn't logically have anything to give them at least enough to get them caught, he wasn't best friends with Hoxton.
