PAYDAY 2

PAYDAY 2

Is there a heist game that does not suck?
I want to know if there is a game where I actually plan a heist and do it the way I want to do it. I don't consider GTA V a heist game when there are only 4 heists with set planning.
Also, A game where bullets actually kill people, that would be nice

The heisting genre.. robbing banks, killing cops, and stealing money, right? If Payday doesn't fill that desire, then you may just be out of luck.

or asking too much.

The market is pretty small right now. I have doubts we'll actually have a simulator-level heisting game, with thorough planning, casing, and other realistic preparations. Not for a while at least.

You could try Eve Online. I know a couple of people made off with immense riches on several occasions in that game...

If you need to use a Thanatos then you're just bad at the game.

Yeah, my opinion of the thanatos is this: if you are using it as a tryhard class on OVERKILL and below you are unconditionally bad at this game. And you should definitely try to get better.

DW? There is a place for it there, but it should be mainly used for special hunting.

Where bullets actually kill ? If they didn't kill in PD2, you'd be kinda screwed after a few minutes of any heist.

Should just tell OP go make an ARMA heist mod if he wants hyperrealism so much. hue.
That doesn't make sense. I guess it does since I rarely use the Thanatos, but it's usually my go-to weapon anywhere, since I hate changing to a different one that really doesn't fit my signature as an enforcer. That reminded me that I should check my skill tree lol. Anyway, it beats barfing all of my ammo in my compact 5 on just one bulldozer. I'm all about ammo sparing XD

Payday 2 is a glorified KOTH AI-Wave.

It doesn't feel like a heist game at all. Case in point? The ridiculous melee weapons.

I'd recommend Payday 1 as a proper heist game.

GTA V also had the lead ups to the heists and more interesting scenarios . Everyone is doing their individual jobs they signed up for. You don't hit F on a drill.

Okay then, sounds to me like you've answered your own question. Enjoy GTAV. I've heard good things.

Unless you take Pen & Paper RPGs into consideration then the answer is no or not yet.
There was a game called Subversion, was going to be made by the same guy's who made uplink and prison architect. It was going to be hyper realistic, dynamicly generated cities and buildings/security systems, every wire was cuttable or hackable, you could shut phone lines, etc.

Sadly the project was canned. Google it.

It's a shame because it looked REALLY promising, but in the end, what had happened was they focused so much on the game's technology and ability to hack/sabotoge and the extreme complexity of guard behavior, but the "Base" of the game was just not there. Like you could just shoot guards in the head, cut all the wires in the alarm box after busting the security room door down, and just grab the loot and leave.

They said the project wasn't completely canned, they MIGHT decide to go back to it and start over from scratch once they finish prison architect, but I think it is very unlikely. Again, it's a real shame because from what we've seen, it seemed like the perfect heist game.

Also with police negoiations, in SWAT 2 as the terrorist side you can try to do stuff like get money or an escape vehicle by releasing hostages, and the cops would only go lethal if you were using firearms and shooting first.

^ This might be good news, but they will finally finish Prison Architect this year. This means they might start focusing more on Subversion again.

I've read about Subversion. It was a radical idea. Sadly, it was still an idea.

The nearest thing that I can think off the top of my head was some of the first of the rainbow six games, planning die in 1 or 2 shots, it was a hostages similator but it could be possible for someone to mod it for heist purposes, of course graphics back then aren't like today...

also the swat games were probably pretty close as well. Never played em though.

I mean in the way I could count on the .45 in payday 1 on higher end difficulties in putting people down, When ever I play deathwish I always feel like I am required to use high powered snipers in cqb scenarios.

That's one of the major problems with DW, yes. But you don't have to play DW.

Introversion is a hella good developer, I'd be very interested in how a heist game made by them would turn out. I hope they go back to it some day.
