Sniper-like penetration though? Wouldn't it be too much?
Barely anyone has noticed the misspelling in the Nagant either...
ok WHY would a .357 magnum do more damage and penetrate shields than the .44 magnum? or the .45 colt? what about the desert eagle, now shield penetration for that gun too? this looks worse with every new piece of info we get...
It all makes sense.

Not even a big gun nut, but the hammer on the Alesso pistol looks odd to me.
This is true. But sometimes games have to be careful not to blur the line too much between fantasy and reality when it comes to certain aspects. Me personally, I'm just tired of the enemies magic bullets.
That and I don't think overkill could really afford to pay the weapon manufacturers high costs just to have the guns likeness in-game. Lots of companies with games that emphasize firearms are shying away from that these days.
Because real guns look cool. I'm interested in the appearance and sound of the gun, not its actual authenticity. It IS a false dichotomy, because there's plenty of middle ground between real-world gun replicas and sci-fi weapons. Look at TitanFall - most of its infantry firearms look and behave like contemporary guns in general and are probably modeled on some of them, but they're not a precise match for any of them.
Or, for a better example, look at Battlefield 2142. That game uses fictional weapons, but all of them fire bullets and behave like contemporary rifles, pistols and shotguns. The PAC sidearm is even a modded-up revolver.
You need look no farther than off-brand racing games. They have cars which sort of look like existing super cars but can't resemble them TOO closely since they don't own the licenses for those vehicles. Why do you think there are so many versions of the fictional Zimos company of cars running around Saints Row 3? It's not because of the game's wackiness, since they look exactly like real-world cars to someone who doesn't know much about real-world cars.
I need cool guns which look like they could be contemporary firearms. I don't need guns which match up to actual existing weapons. I haven't the slightest idea how the Pancor Jackhammer actually works, but I still want to see "it" in the game. If the gun looks roughly like the Google image search pics, then I'll be perfectly happy and none the wiser as to how accurate it is to the real deal.
Depending on the gun manufacturer. The highest quality air soft weapons(usually the ones bearing the license) are spitting images of their IRL counterparts,
IRL revolvers are reliable and don't jam as often due to the lack of gas parts so this gun is basically completely pointless in its own existance due to it being a low capacity slow firing slow reloading pistol with no advantage over a modern slide magazine design
and thats why i love it
Not automatic.
Not semi-automatic.
Here's a redneck intermediate barrier penetration test with 22LR, 32ACP, 380ACP, 9mm, 40S&W, and 45ACP rounds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i22-nMxnHrE
All fail vs a frying pan but the 40S&W and the 9MM. Speed kills not power.
by this test the 9mm sidearms should have a chance of penetration and the larger rounds should do good dmg vs Unarmoured AI
