Left to rot?
Looks like Starbreeze gladly took the money for PD2 but isn't supporting it anymore.
We get random crashes very often when starting a heist, nothing is done to fix it, damn do I hate that dev studio. It's only about taking mass money, no matter the quality of the product.

The thing is most, most crashes on Payday 2 are caused by bad mods, not the game itself.
Diesel is a pretty okay engine.

Anyways; starbreeze can rot for all I care.

I for one am not using any mods but my game keeps freezing/crashing nonetheless. In fact, the piss poor technical state of PD 2 is the very reason I didnt buy PD 3.

PD 2 is a one hit wonder/miracle of a subpar developer that will ultimately fail as there is a limit to what extent they can milk the skinny cow PD 2 has become.

Kind of funny but I'm not sure that those belong in the same sentence.
L4D still works. The game is 5 years older than PD2 and it won't break.
There are no hacks, no crashes, L4D is stable like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mountain.

Meanwhile PD2 is hacked, broken, very often crashes randomly...
This game has been coded with the ass by some idiots, managed by more idiots.

Starbreeze is nothing like Valve. They specialise in DLC fests on bugged games.
This studio is just garbage, I'm not ever again buying anything from them, and whenever I hear about them I give them the reputation that they deserve. That is being thieves !

One aspect I find most interesting is that they've never addressed the Epic Games Launcher bug, whereby if you have EGL installed on your computer, even if you only have the game on Steam, the game tries to open the Epic overlay when you start the game leading to the game never launching unless you take certain steps.

This bug is surely costing them money, because some people will buy the game, try to play it, it'll never launch and they'll just refund it rather than trying to troubleshoot the problem. From what I understand the fix is relatively simple (and there's a mod that fixes the issue already out there).

I can understand not fixing gameplay bugs and crashes to save money, but the EGL bug must be actively losing them money in the form of refunds. It's bizarre why it's never been addressed.

If you think that's bad you should look up the Ultimate Edition scam they pulled a few years back. Literally sold an ultimate edition that was supposed to come with all dlc, past, present, and future, they sold it immediately released the h3h3 character pack (which was not covered by the ultimate edition, now renamed legacy edition) then ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off to work on Raid WW2 and that walking dead game. Both of those flopped hard, latter flopped so hard I believe they lost the license to it). They came back to PD2 and reneged on their deal.

What I find funny is that, as I understand it, the game used to run on Linux rigs but ever since their EGShit integration linux players haven't been able to play the game. Man that's gotta be a real big gitfuk'd if I ever saw one.

Payday crashing has been going on since the very beginning. This isn't new. It's a game mechanic at this point

I've been playing hundreds of hours, I never experienced as much crashes as I do now.
I had one very major bug (all account progression wiped with their release to EPIC), but other than that, maybe a crash every 6-7h or gameplay.
Now it's much more frequent.
so is this it is this how it ends
game support ended completely and only updates the game to remove license content that expires, just give the idiots at starbreeze a few months making bad decisions and when PD3 is their biggest failure above OTWD the hypocrites at starbreeze will update again PD2 out of necessity
