Is there any point to using any armors appart from two piece suit and (I)CTV?
Because the more I try to think about it, the more reasons NOT to wear them I come up with.
For stealth equiping anything other than the suit is pointless because low conceavability is what you want.

For loud heists, you want to get as much protection as possible in order not to get creamed instantly, so you want to be using either an Improved combined tactical vest for maximum protection, a combined tactical vest if you haven't unlocked the ICTV yet or your build isn't running it OR a suit if you're going for dodge build.

All the armors in between those 2 seem pointless, as their dodge value is 0, and their armor rating isn't high enough to keep you alive during heavy firefights as much or better than the previous 3 options. Yeah they get a slight speed boost compared to (I)CTV, but you're still very slow compared to the suit and without dodge its rather pointless as you die halfway through where you're going when explosed to enemy fire.

One might say that the lightweight ballistic vest has a use with a crock build, and I admit its not quite as crap as the previous options, but its completely outclassed by the 2 piece suit in most if not all sitiuations, as if you use crock you can't take advantage of low blow and sneaky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to their full potential unless you ace them. (A rogue doesen't need to ace them and spend 16 extra points, as he gets their full 10%-30% buff with a conceavability of 4 or bellow, that most akimbo builds have)

So, is there something I'm missing here? Or are all these armors indeed useless?

EDIT: And yes I know that the lightweight ballistic vest looks aeons cooler than the suit but still.

playing Crook is a viable build, especially when not having enough points to unlock SneakTard ACED.

The other armors are just like the Chimano 88, AMCAR and Crosskill; tiers of equipment you go through, on the way to the top of the ladder.

Stepping stones on the path, not the goal. Sadly.

Suit or ICTV, really. Unless you like gimping yourself.

CTV is usable. I used to use it exclusively in DW. Any armor is usable in the hands of a good player.

On a full V-100 player, is crock equal or better than Suit-Rogue though?

I can definently see crocks appeal in early game as akimbo builds require level 80 or higher and depending on the build levels of infamy, but what about late game? Where the player has more skill points and discounts? (Level 100+)

Yeah, its just that some armors are vastly better in the hands of a good player than others.

A lot of people say the lower ones that are not ICTV are useless, if they are being used this is how it is, to maximize.

1. LBV+crook perk
2. CTV/ICTV+armour perk+bulletproof
Sometimes people use muscle insteed of armour and LBV with crook is a mix for dodge and armor...

I use armor almost all the time and it gets me by just a lot better to get ICTV.

It depends on the difficulty, really. Suit-Rogue will dominate everything in OVK and below, but its like rolling a die on when 2 bullets will instadown you in DW loud.

The punisher build is certified for death wish.

While yes its kinda hard, its not impposible. It just becomes average instead of godly in death wish. That's a first hand comment by the way.

You can, but you shouldn't. Using anything but Suit/ICTV is gimping yourself.

But as he said, you don't always have ICTV unless you invest heavily into the Enforcer tree.

There are some ways to use the crook deck to make the ballistic vests viable, but they are limited.

Honestly sometimes I take the lesser armor simply to sharpen my senses and make me react quicker. Hell I did the alesso dw hiest in a flak jacket for fun when it first came out.
Malidictus Jun 21, 2015 @ 4:58pm
Crook with LBV is pretty good, I'd argue. Then again, I don't buy into this "maximum efficiency or GTFO" mentality. There is such a thing as "good enough," you know.
PrivateKI Jun 21, 2015 @ 5:01pm
For challenge. I can see how some people enjoy trying out new risks with crook builds, or even pure Technician with CTV + BP, maybe.

On the other hand, Flak Jacket is just pure trash.

For lulz i guess.

Yeah, and even Suit Rogue is better than the alternatives. If you use CTV ever you're an idiot or just a guy trying to challenge himself.
