PAYDAY 2
are sentry guns useless to people now..
I haven't play payday 2 for almost half a year, and I play again recently, I played about 10 rounds and no one is using sentry guns, and I am the only one using my 2 sentry guns as the only contribution to team.. why no one is using sentry gun now, I didn't feel it is nerfed

Whatever sentries are actually useful to do, anyone could still accomplish it without. They're just not good and cost too much skill points to deliver. As for Jack of All Trades, it is a useless perk and gives everyone no way to switch between the c4 and sentry guns, which was their only chance to ever be used again.
costs too many points to make them worthwhile
those points could buy you most of another skill tree
I've tried being full Tech now with the recent changes, and while it's quite fun and also very useful to have 2 maxed sentries and 6 mines, I believe other builds are still better for harder Overkill/DW jobs. Builds like Masterforcer/Techforcer will allow you to kill way more and be more effective than being full Tech for the most part.

All I know is that on day 3 of rats, I love having a teammate with sentries out by the bus while they loot bags and I snipe specials. All about placement, put it behind a wall and watch it completely shred walkers-by.
I still think sentries are too much of a skillpoint sink.
They are not completely useless, but for the cost to make them decent, you would get a lots of solid skills.

I really hope they can make the technician to be something else than a 'tripmine and/or sentry guy'. There's just not enough space in his tree to put some good general use skills, because damn sentries and tripmines steal all the space. And your skillpoints.
Yeah, I don't think Senties are intended to be left on their own. They don't have enough ammo to fight by themselves for long. What they're most useful for is providing fire support to you and your team in defensive situations, in places where you need to hold out for a while. And yeah, they do take some creative positioning. You don't want them attempting to shoot at stuff too far away and you want the snetry at the head or foot of a long corridor, with you on the other side.
I play a tech with sentries maxed (minus shields). I tend to agree that sentries need support. Using the tech's headshot multiplier my normal load out on loud is sentries and the Thanatos or 308. Place the sentries on an elevated position and don't leave them alone. It's about using the sentry gun as an amplifier of one's DPS and knowing when and where to place them.

An example: Watch Dogs Day 2
Place the sentry on the black pick-up trucks roof. Stand next to it on top of the roof.
As you look towards where the loot bags spawn the sentry has field coverage of both the center gate or fence, the right gate and the area between the cargo containers to the left, and the ground floor side entrance to the warehouse into the room with the light switch. Using the Thanatos or 308 take out the specials before they approach and leave the normal enemies for the sentry. One player with the sentry can cover half the map leaving only the far left gate to other members of the team.
