RPK will never be accurate?
I'd like to use the RPK as my main weapon, since it has a phenomenal ammo capacity. However... because it has no sights available, will it not ever be able to hit anything at range even if I increase its accuracy?

having a sight won't increase the accuracy of the gun. aiming gives it as much accuracy as it can get.

best lmg is the ksp with courier mods, but you're still using the weapon primary weapon type in the game.

Well, I mean... if I just use aiming and don't get any kind of scope or anything, it is almost impossible to know where exactly I'm aiming at! At least with the RPK

laser sights work wonders for LMG's military from courier mod is my favourite

Use the lasers, that's why.

Though I find the KSP quite usable and a bit reliable at medium range.

It would be nice to use sights but for some reason you can't. Some consider an absolute knowledge of where the center of screen is a game breaking ability.

Even though they're fine with it if achieved in a roundabout way using a laser.

I actually prefer the LMG's without iron sights. LMG recoil+gun taking up 65% of the screen = bad.

I would still prefer using the sights for their intended purpose. Contrary to what a lot of people would like to claim, it's not impossible to shoulder and fire a machine gun. In fact, that's the recommended way to use them.

They do have iron sights in real life, yes. ;)

Nothing wrong with giving people the option of course, as long as they understand the gun will not become more accurate, only easier to aim without a laser.

Tell that to the people that are violently opposed to the idea of usable iron sights.

I'd just like to be able to line the gun up to what I'm trying to hit and burst fire without involving any guess work or contrived alternate aiming options like a laser.

Would I hit more? Probably. Would it break the gun and make it unbalanced? Not really, because continous fire would still throw off your aim.

Make it a fire mode toggle if you have to and nerf movement speed further while using it and there you go. Everybody wins.

Fire mode toggle? Mmmm though i like the idea i don't know if real life LMG have single/auto mode. But this is a game so screw reality.
Anyway the RPK is a really bad boy if you mod it with the right things (tactical compensator, military laser module for its +2 in stability, plastic stock) and you'll be able to even take down the snipers from the streets on firestarter day 2.
