Forum Bans
So I'm noticing a lot more bans than usual. Players who are very active and generaly respected in the forums are ending up with bans(most likely temporary). I've been reading through their threads and comments to get an idea of why and cannot figure it out. Has there been a recent change in forum policy or just a crackdown on following the existing policy? Haven't seen able to find anything about policy either.
I'm asking as I can be a bit abrassive and would not enjoy a ban; soooooo you know, I'd like to make sure I don't break any forum rules.

Oh well, I'm just doing translation so I guess I do not have Almir's ear as much as you have Ashley. That being said, my policy is do not bother him if you don't have anything ultra urgent.
He generally cannot answer and I respect that, he's overworking, he's overbusy and I feel like the rare breaks he has is spent tweeting.
As you mentioned, the problem is they grew way too fast, and should have planned things otherwise. This isn't a 50 people studio they should be running, but rather a 120 people one. A one with PR, more moderators on the Steam forums, etc...

Offtopic : you can't be pillar of the community without one forum ban, still :D

Well, i don't feel we need more moderators right now, its generally under control most of the time. More moderators mean more problems that can appear internally.
All I can think about now is moderator cage fights.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you ninja'd me
I could totally picture the Asian desert, one cage, Ashley vs Tessio, and Abomination counting the points.
I would say any ban applies, but it still need to be in those forums, otherwise it's too easy, like you go on Dota 2 forums say that you love Russian players and you got your ban.
It's still an achievement.

I have the Bane Vs Batman scene from the Dark Knight Rises in my head, where Batman gets trapped in the sewers with Bane.

The moderation was just about fine until a certain mod decided to show its new toys. I see people troll baiting 24/7 and nothing happens to them. If anything, the thread gets derailed and it gets closed.

I'd pay to see that. Ashley would wreck Tess's pretty face.

My gosh.

A 252 post 6 page megathread on banned people starring a formerly banned OP, people who got banned, people who got banned in this actual thread and ban mediation.

100/10 would casually lurk while banned again.

EDIT: Do we have an archive? Maybe there should be a subforum for saving these gems like this

I think Brovah had his permaban coming, he never did anything else but post negative stuff, insult and try to get people raging. He even bragged about it on his profile. It's not only that I won't miss him, I think the forum is a better place now without him.

tavish30 on the other hand is a completely different story, though. In difference to Brovah his trolling was rather harmless and rarely ever included insults or baits towards particular persons. And in addition he was also capable of making good posts which contributed to a discussion. Something I've never ever seen from Brovah.

I can't deny I want him back. I think it's a bit harsh to permaban him for writing the name of a community member, never mind what happened before. In my sense of justice no amount of minor offenses can justify "capital punishment". It's not like you can get a life sentence if you get caught shoplifting ten times.

Concerning that particular member who shall not be named, I think you should not see it that tight. By this time he has earned himself such a reputation, and is so famously known, that there is no point in trying to prevent people of referring to him. I see no bad thing in him becoming a PD2 meme (which he more or less already is), after all we have many memes already from Dozer Snepai to HYOG, and none of them is a bannable offense.

Sure, it might hurt him in his personal rights or something, but I think in this special case he has forfeit any right on protection whatsoever. If anything, he will enjoy it and feel honored. And even if he complains to Steam, I think it's easy to direct their attention to what he actually does and how he conducts to other Steam customers, to make any complaint of him a lead balloon.

Despite me being a convinced atheist I'd say we should all listen to Jesus and forgive more. Hell, even Brovah can come back after 1-3 months if it was about me to decide and if he actually still wants to.

Can someone please tell me what's so special with Tribe? No one has ever given me an answer.
I mean, legitimately, from the times i've played LoL,Ragnarok,Dota 1,TF2,CS:GO & most especially Left For Dead 2 Garena(prior to me finding a psuedo-competitive L4D2 PUG group that runs Expert Reaism VS & prior to learning about Steam).I have met FAR more people thats more low, more dickish, more douche-ish,more cruel than Tribe could ever be. Heck Tribe is just child's play compared to them, who can make your blood boil over a video game(And i can brag about being the calmest ever when it comes to toxicity, what with being a former internet cafe owner who has had a range of bratty screaming kids to 20 year old+ group drunks swearing & just below the belt trash-talking). Seriously i have watched Tribe's vids and it just seems nothing more than a little kid throwing tantrums + desperately clinging to anything he can try to troll you with.
Maybe Filipinos just have a very thick skin(youtube search: Fliptop battles) or something, but even then there's far more people online that can make you lose your ♥♥♥♥ without relying on petty insults like Tribe.

Agreed on Tavish.

But 1 thing i disagre so much with your post...(and what would be my first bait ever).
I'd rather have Buddha's quotes about forgiveness than..uh...THAT religion :/. At least its far more practical & realistic...

Jesus was fine as well. Great guy, too bad a lot of his followers didn't listen to him.

I am not Japanophile, so I picked Jesus over Buddha
