I think PAYDAY 3 will be delayed

The roadmap say PD 3 will be publish on 2023, but we don't have any trailer or teaser yet, so I will prepare for the worst

if the release is late 2023 we could still see it happen in 2023
they are probably waiting to be able to actually show the game in their trailer

I think this is the key. They'll start the hype train when they know they have some solid gameplay to show off. The mistake was made before with OTWD where they had some nice trailers come out but the game itself didn't release for ages so the buzz from that faded.

also way too many modern trailers are pretty much just CG shorts with no relation to the actual gameplay

could be like cyberpunk 2077 but i'm sure starbreeze and OVK will release a anime that will revive the game again

I hope to see a return of this. It was very cool and something special for Payday. Fits with its Hollywood theme too.

Its gonna be Early Access on the Epic Games store and after a year or two it will release on Steam lmao.

For better or worse i dont think its getting delayed. Its slated for a 2023 release but i am willing to bet this will be a late 2023 release. Trailers and gameplay will most likely start popping up around june next year.

It will probly come out bareboned in Early Access in 2023
and then after 1-2 years it will be full release.

No that would be a waste of money and resources.
And one of the reasons they almost went bankrupt in the first place spending big bucks on stuff like that and exspensive Trailers instead of putting their money into developing the game.

I think they meant stuff like this! You know the stuff that they then used for the game's contracts briefings, heist success and fail stuff, etc.

This is possible. Technically it would be out on time but then there would be the benefit of a long beta for good feedback and slow content additions before it goes to 1.0 gold release or whatever.

Not at all. They had nothing to do with the bankruptcy or money problems. Did you just make that up on the spot there or did someone else tell you this nonsense? This was never once suggested as the issue even as the drama at that time unfolded. I watched it all with earnest then. The financial woes were far bigger than this and nothing to do with anything involving Payday 2, ironically. Payday was a huge profit making enterprise and all round success - a bigger success than they could have dreamed of before launch, probably - the live action stuff being part of the hype and atmosphere same as their events and shows, etc. that got the player base and sales so big and steady. Payday was an amazing money printer. The golden goose that kept on laying. Payday 2's development was paid for on preorders alone! Everything after was gravy. No shortage of money to develop or work on it. No shortage of profits. The issues around the game later on were due to the boss's choices and it seems unfortunate issues stemming from bad grudges too.

The problems for the company were the many many other non-payday projects, buyouts or starting up other companies, hardware developing (they had their own rather advanced VR headset system, clearly not cheap to do!), money pit projects that flopped hard and sometimes with long delays costing countless MILLIONS of dollars for almost nothing in return (like OTWD that changed engine more than once at the cost of millions just for the useless engine licences), etc. The cost of simply running a full big studio working full time on a game for extra two or three years is a massive cost alone on top of that (wages, rent, all the business costs for years and still waiting for something to sell) too but sadly was merely one brick in the tomb of bad decisions at that time. Plus there's the marketing for the flopped games that would also cost a lot of time and money that isn't recouped with sales. The delays would mean more marketing costs too, as we were getting trailers and hype material for OTWD long, long before it actually came out which is not great timing if you want to get a peak for launch day, which became something of a whimper rather than the big bang they would have wanted.

It must have been hugely stressful for all the staff at the time and it is a testament to their loyalty and professionalism that they managed to hold on as long as they did in such extended poor conditions with no sign of drama. I fully believe that there were people needing therapy or collapsing with exhaustion and feeling run down at the end of these too long crunch periods that were described.
