Some of the more intensive modifications such as reciever modifications, or semi/full auto customization not so much. Some of those are much more labor intensive, thus yor probally leasing out the work to contractor, and the cost is keeping your gunsmiths mouth shut, or some other logical explanation.
Ok but what about if you're not lvl 40-50? Money is tight for relatively new players and when you don't know which mod is good it can get pretty expensive to experiment.
Money sink should be made better.
Such as ammo replenishment / revive / out of custody. etc.
Those are reasonable reasons, that it will take money to achieve.
Paying, to remove a mod from your rail. And paying, to attatch a mod to your rail.
That is like...The most retarded thing ever happened in FPS history.
Isn't that the same thing as losing it and having to buy another one?
No... Losing it means you can't re-equip it at all untill found in a card drop.. BIG difference.
Or you can just see it as
- Card drop > Unlock it in a Store
- Remove mod > Losing the mod
- But you can re-purchase the mod in the store.
It's just different perspective. But all in all, ultimately.
A ♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason for a Cash sink.
PS. When you've dumped 400+ hours in. Ran countless high $ reward heist.
You wouldn't even need to mod / remod your set up anymore. Hence cash sink completely useless.
Maybe i miss understood you... But i would much rather pay to re-attach it, then NOT being able to attach it again at all.
And considering how often i get card-drops i want, i would much rather just pay to attach it, than not having it at all.
You misunderstood me.
What I meant, was trying to explain what the other person's perspective.
By definition of "losing", would be throwing the mod into a trash bin, literally.
Instead of the gaming world - Losing = Gone for good. Until another mod card.
Re-stating. Think literal.
Obtaining a card drop, as a "discount card / vip card" to have access to some items in Gage's black market.
But to remove a mod, you are to take that mod, and throw it into a garbage bin. Due to reasons. And to reinstall, you have to go buy another one from Gage.
That is the perspective he was trying to bring. Or so I gathered.
And again - This, for the reason for Cash sink. Is still utterly stupid.
I'd rather spend money buying ammo.
Or even better. Introduce different grades of ammo.
Basic grade ammo doesn't cost a dime, but deal least damage.
Higher grade ammo would have different tier / level.
Would require replenish / repurchase fee. And deal higher damage.
Highest grade ammo would do special effects, such as armor piercing / bleed effect etc.
And would be a rare drop from mod cards. ( Perhaps 5 ammo box / cases per card drop )
But it's better than not having it at all after un-equiping it. /shrug
It made me stop playing the game, just saying. Ive got into it again and really enjoy the game but when I was starting out I remember buying a bunch of mods for one of my weapons, spending all my hard earned early heist money on them.
Like, several mods in each category... (not knowing that I was buying "over" each time) etc etc. Took them all off again to put them all on individually and work out the best build...
Realised id lost about 1 million that had taken hours to accrue with all the ♥♥♥♥ low level heists and not knowing how to play that well.
Stopped playing. Im sure that many have done that kind of thing and not returned - its like when you lose a save
Only it takes a few minutes to get money for the vast majority of mods in the game...
Yea that's what I was saying. You're essentially buying the same item again. If money becomes so plentiful that you don't have to worry about it anymore, then what's the point of this? It's a dumb system. It's also completely retarded to have to pay someone to attach or remove a flashlight or suppressor for you. Just let us enable/disable the mods.
Yep that's what happened to me. It just told me the item would return to my inventory. Ok no problem I thought. I didn't realize I would have to pay for it again once it's in my inventory. I don't have to buy a gun again when I unequip it right? Why this?
