A fix for some windows XP users ("BLACKSCREEN BUG")
(Be aware, there are different issues with the XP users games, but this one is specific to the blackscreen bug, and this discussion will be posted on General Discussions as well as Bug reporting as there is no specific forum for fixes)

One thing that fixes some XP users games is windowing the game untill its done loading. This is because one bug that is happening amongst the XP users is that on startup, the game freezes on a blackscreen with a movable mouse, and in most cases, can only be shut down by reseting your PC. Although I do not know why it does this, when its fullscreen at first, it cant start up the actual game.

Step 1 (Optional, but recommended): In your library, go to PAYDAY2 properties, and there should be a section for start up options. In here, type as a custom startup command "-windowed" without the ".

Step 2: As soon as you open the game start spamming the windows key, or have task manager open and force your computer to constantly switch to another application. This causes the game to load properly as for some reason that I dont know, the game refuses to work on fullscreen at startup, but works later on when its loaded completely.

If done correctly, it should show the start up video on the game, which is easily skipped, and there you go, a fix for some XP users, enjoy the lifestyle of a heister.

Well, its not like everybody can buy a computer every few months, and either way, still a lot of people use XP. Not only that, the game always claimed to work on windows XP, but since it normally does not for most people, this is here to help with those who were hoping for XP compatability, bought it, and want to play it. So no, its not about "reviving windows XP", and I feel its good that XP is fading so "newer" and better designs allow for better game experience and creation.

Also, its not like the developers are gonna help, and if they do, its gonna be a long time till they do. Even when they did the windows XP beta, I never even saw if they finished it, and if they did, they did a really bad job at it.

Every few months ? Are you a console gamer ? Upgrading does not have to mean buying a whole 'nother computer altogether. That what you don't want to do. You want to buy components separately and build yourself a whole computer or modify/upgrade an existing one. It's inexpensive.

And, again, every few months ? Pay the right price, do the performance comparisons, and a few months will be a few years.

Secondly, trying to carry people on outdated OS software is a waste of time. That's why you see Bethesda, Ubisoft, and indie developers of games like Miscreated, Ark: Survival Evolved, Killing Floor 2, and DayZ only developing on DX11 and for 64-bit systems. All that time is better spent making sure the games actually full utilize and play well on the right hardware as they should have years ago.

Secondly, XP needs to die. People had plenty of time to upgrade to 7. I rolled my eyes when they put out that beta update for XP systems. Stability related.

This is why we can't have next-gen games. Because of stubborn people who don't wanna upgrade.

Every few months was more of an exaggeration, but it still stands that not everybody can keep their computers completely up to date, also, I edited my comment before you posted yours, so please read it again as I address some of your other points. Then, sometimes building your own computer isnt always inexpensive, as it often depends on where you live. For example, where I live, almost everything electronic tends to be more expensive than other countries might be. Then theres also another issue with building your own computer, once again, some people cant replace part by part over time, sometimes you gotta replace everything.

Finally, what is so wrong with me trying to help some people who still use it, what is so wrong with it?

It doesn't matter if people had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of times to upgrade to W7 or a newer OS. The store page claims the game works on XP so it has to work on it. Even if PC Gaming on XP nowadays is obsolete.

Nothing, other than encouraging people not to upgrade/modernize which will mean less games they get to play until DX9 and DX10 won't be a thing in any new games.

What about when OVK moves on from Payday 2 ? They aren't gonna use the o'l Diesel game engine forever. They'll surely make their own engine and embrace DX11 by then.

Nothing, other than encouraging people not to upgrade/modernize. DX11 is standard now. And Overkill is not going to use the o'l Diesel game engine forever.

I dont really think it really encourages that, if I had the chance to upgrade, I would, even if somebody got most of the games they like to work, im sure they wouldnt mind upgrades, especially if it improves the experience. To add on, no point on constantly changing your first comment when we have already quoted what you said before, its better if you post a new one.
