"Best" free assault rifle?

Mastermind running Deagle for revives and accuracy reasons.
Came back to the game after AGES finding the main gun to be a shotgun, which actually hits targets and doesn't have wtf random impossible recoil.
I saw someone suggest one of the AK variants. Got it, slapped some parts on and...seems to miss a lot? Even on a hit it tends to jerk right away real hard and I can't...imagine myself playing with that unreliable of a weapon.

Is it just that one gun or are all of them that bad?
Alternatively, what is the most universally agreed on current "best" AR?

I haven't played with an AR in a long time, but isnt the UAR a usable vanilla gun?

M308 - thanks guys! I'll give that a look in a little bit.Deagle disarming works pretty well, self-rez is useful and all but longer ranges might require a specialized touch like that.

M308 is a decent single-fire rifle, great power, can be modded for solid accuracy... basically a makeshift Sniper rifle that trades penetration for a much larger ammo pool.

Though personally, my AR of choice is the (Golden) AK. With the right mods its accuracy and stability is pretty absurd for a possibly 60 round rifle.

The one weapon I tried before I posted this thread has a mag cap of 30, reloads pretty slowly and swings around wildly. I'd just like some long-range accuracy for snipers and headpopping. Pray and sprays is nice too but no use against ARmors.

The 80-damage rifles are good too, you should try them again. Personally, for 80-dmg rifles I prefer the AK. 762 and the Eagle Heavy Rifle. You could also try the AMR-16, the Gewehr or the Falcon Rifle. Give 'em a shot.

M308 as suggested is good. I like the AMR16 but it's a bit too reliant on a few DLC mods. The AK762 has some ace mods in the AK/CAR pack too but it's workable with base game items. Check the link.

A lot of people dislike it because it is inaccurate but the JP36's practically infinite ammo while hitting 40 damage is not to be taken lightly. Yes you are inaccurate and yes, your magazine is small but you can really put the hurt down and keep it up in the long run provided you go for headshots and the gun isn't as inaccurate as you might think when you aim down the sights.

I will give those some consideration! I do think the one I tried is the AK.762 . I don't have as many attachments as I should, lots of things came out after I stopped playing X_x.
Just gotta play\grind for a bit, methinks!
