Massive FPS Drops.
Nothing I'm doing seems to be fixing these massive fps drops I'm getting in this game.

On high, I can get 120 fps easy and an even higher rate on minimal. But in levels like Aftershock, I'm getting drops down to 20 fps and stutters and even small freezes. (The wall you blow up with C4 in Aftershock made me drop down to 14fps for about 5 seconds while looking at it up close.)

This is beyond a joke. My PC is way above the recommended specs and yet it struggles to run this game without it chucking a fit every thirty seconds due to what I assume to be :jarate: poor job at optimisation.

Anyone know of something that'll fix this? If not, is this ever going to be fixed by the devs or am I just going to have to deal with it?

Two suggestions: Is vsync on? And have you tried doing a fresh install of the game (removing the folder entirely, making sure there is no trace)?

I know it seems obvious, but you wouldn't believe how many people don't try that first. Vsync causes different problems for everyone. For me, it makes the frame rate tank when I'm around smoke. Not just looking at it, only when I'm near it.

I've tried a bunch of settings, putting them all low, mixing them up.
V-sync is disabled, never much liked v-sync, I can live with tearing so long as it ain't crippling.
Nothing really seems to fix it though.

At the settings I have now (Mostly high with low AA and shadows), I only seem to drop down to 30-35 at the very lowest, but still. I shouldn't be dropping from 120 down to that.

Something is horribly wrong.

Intel i7-4790 and a GTX750Ti, Not the most powerful of parts, I'm aware, but it's well above the recommended specs and seems to work until it drops frames like crazy.
EPIC CPU still considered very high end, but that GPU.................. consider an upgrade? That CPU is more then enough for quite awhile. What a pair..........................
Yeah, I've been wanting to upgrade it for a while, but sadly it was all I could afford at the time and I still can't afford a more powerful card. My whole system is limited by that damn thing, I've got everything else up to a pretty good amount, 16GB DDR3 ram too. Just a couple more hundred and I'll get myself a nice 980 or something like that.

But even so, surely this game shouldn't be running this badly with it.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but damn is it expensive.

Aftershock will stutter on occasion on my hexacore i7-3930k and GTX 970 ... its a poorly optimised map.

It would still get stutters on that map. And besides, the best ratio benchmark score per dollar is actually the GTX 960. But if you have the extra cash 970 or 980 are good too.

I'm on a Radeon R9 270X and I get random drops to 30 FPS for no reason all the time if vsync is on. If it's off, constant 60 for the most part except for the screen tearing. With or without vsync, I get these constant microstutters which are very annoying. It could be on Four Stores or on The Diamond. Doesn't matter, both the smallest and heaviest maps will do it.

So I am correct. It's OVERKILL's fault then.
Well, if that's the case, guess I'll just have to deal with it. Thank god I got this game for free.

If you have a AMD Ryzen CPU this may help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsaU-6QOpCw
