PAYDAY 2 Modern CPU Support
Anyone knowing what difference it makes from the regular option ?
FPS Boost or what it does exactly ?

E-cores are weaker cores meant for doing certain tasks, not important, only thing that is important is that the launch option for the newer ones has checks to make sure the game doesn't try to use that weak core for its single main threading.

If it uses an ecore it will not be able to run at an acceptable frame rate.

Basically use the latest one, but if you somehow have incompatible CPU for God knows what reason you can just go back to the original.

...
I'm not 100% clear why they didn't just leave it as the only launch option since it works on all CPUs

it just makes the game crash constantly basically, so if you want a lot of crashes, no perf gain, turn it on. if not probably turn it off, regardless of cpu age being newer than 2022.

All "modern CPU mode" did was make the game crash at random times for me, went back to standard launch and the crashes went away.

Out of curiosity what was the crash log for that?

if your cpu was made from 2021 or sooner then use that option.
That's according to overkill, but the CPUs in which I have tested it were made in 2019 and 2020 and both crash in the "old" mode but work just like before in the "modern" mode. Overkill's claim about 2021+ being the guide for what mode to use is kind of stupid. They should just publish the target architectures and be done with it.

A good CPU can carry this game's poor optimization and give you stable frame times and high fps

Agreed; My Ryzen 3600 crashes with some vague, non-descript access error when used in Old mode, despite it (technically) being a 2019/2020 CPU.

I used this and my CPU heated a lot! Maybe it's too much processing power in a 13900kf.

I don't think a 13900KF would heat up a lot on PAYDAY 2 if it's cooled properly? I mean I could be wrong, but personally I have a an i5 12600KF which is from late 2021 and I don't have any temperature issue

Tbf it's not a LOT of heat, but i find it funny that the game in the older config runs at 55-61 in my watercooler (LS720) and goes to 81°c at the modern config, no idea why, tho =\

modern cpu support doesn't patch all problems. I crashed towards the end of a heist and now I gotta do it again :BL3Thumbsdown:

I have an acer predator helios 18, and I'd be astonished if it's cpu didn't have e-cores, but I forgot what it has. however, this thing can run destiny 2 on max graphics settings and still maintain high fps, so any performance-related problem is on the developer's side.

there really should be some form of session/crash recovery for offline play

edit: I have a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700HX 2.10 GHz CPU. I don't know if it has e cores, however. I tried searching both bing and google but no relevant results on either
