Alternatives
I am playing it while it is free to play but i have read about overkill being very unethical and i am not sure i want to support them honestly. But 4 player co-op games are really fun to me, I love L4D2. That being said, when the free to play is over on March 31 i am going to be left with that void. Is there any other games similar to this that are actual games and not demos with 50 DLC's that should be included into the game besides L4D2?

Well, Payday 2 - as that doesn't have 50 DLCs and most of them are really not something that "should be in the base game" (because that's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excuse from people that are simply to cheap to buy DLCs, ever) I would only really argue that to be the case for the Gage Courier Mod DLC and that thing is already down to 3$ or 3€ by default and like 75 cent each when on sale.

Optimisation isn't that great supposedly (could've been improved, however, as I only heard from the Beta having those issues), and it's very melee focused. So that's something worth considering.

Half of this junk is barely even considered content, but your SOL cause I am certain that PD2 is pretty much a one of a kind game, I have never seen anything quite like it in both aspects.
So its either just get GOTY and play it or hope that Ulf's new game is like PD2, unless someone can find another game that is very similer to PD2 in all aspects you don't have any options.

Yeah it's really unethical to keep a game alive with several years of post-release OPTIONAL content. I'm pretty sure if they hadn't made a single update with new content since 2013 people would still be mad. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. How about just playing games you like to play, buying stuff you want to buy? Why does it matter what the next guy does? Who cares?

If you like it, buy it during the sale, you won't regret it. And you don't need to own all the DLCs, just like Bindal said, Gage courier mod is a must, everything else is just personal choice.

Killing Floor 2 is a good alternative. Tho, if you like the game it's not about supporting or not overkill, it's about being able to play it.

Killing Floor 2 is "stand around in a corner and shoot a lot of enemies" with several upcoming PvP modes (yes, several are coming and no other PvE modes), so that's not really like PD2, which is very objective based.

I would say get the GOTY and you have a ton of content to play with for a long time.

KF2 is a little repetitive and the typical coop player doesn't care about PvP modes.
I have yet to buy Vermintide at a good price to try it out.

100% agree, now to the actual topic, Killing Floor 2 seems like a lot of fun and the music is great.
