Why is the white house heist so awful
Dude the level design on this is unreal in how awful it is compared to other heists.
There's not so many issues in the hacking part of the heist at the start other than a lack of areas where you can hold down the fort.
The oval office part of the heist is so awful though, your drill needs "special modifications" in this heist which seems to have no effect on how it performs at all, but apparently part of these "special modifications" is that it now needs to be plugged in? Thanks for removing batteries Locke, now the cops can not only damage the drill, but they can just flip off the power, which also makes the drill have to be restarted anyway. If this was to prevent some sort of ease of defending the drill in the oval office, I wanna know what insanity someone has to go through in thinking the oval office is an easy place to hold down the fort considering every enemy on the map can pretty much see you through the windows with laser accuracy, the snipers, the turret, and the small gap between the door and the wall which enemies can apparently shoot you through.
After all that, you make your way down to the vault area and what the ♥♥♥♥ was going through level design's heads through this? Massive open area, minimal cover, and even the slightly good spots get filled with tear gas, forcing you to camp in ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spots like stairs where you get bum rushed by billions of cops from multiple directions, oh and can't forget the turrets, and a power switch AGAIN which is conveniently placed on the opposite side of the room way out in the open for you to die to.
Idc if it's because "well you're storming the white house, of course they're gonna have a massive response", this is not a game for realism, who tf pegs this game for realism when a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vape pen, whiskey flask and some weird glass ampule keep you alive, and being able to turn cops against other cops is a thing?

I think it works for loud pretty well, but the stealth is the single worst out of the whole game.

I don't know about stealth, but the PEOC is probably be the single hardest part of any loud heist in the entire game

I've heard that the heist is (to some extent) modeled after the IRL White House. This means that the layout would feel a bit strange in game, because it's not like the real White House was designed with Payday 2 gameplay in mind.

That being said, some of the gameplay choices are just straight up terrible. The cop spawns in the PEOC are horrendous, with turrets to add insult to injury. I know Overkill are taking creative liberties with the PEOC, but at times I wonder if they even playtested the map.

Fun Fact: the windows in the IRL Oval Office are several inches thick and made of bulletproof glass. So the fact that Overkill decided to make the windows behave like every other glass window in the game just to give the cops brutal sightlines on you is just.... urgh.
the big problem with the heist is that it has to be modeled after a real place. Payday usually exaggerates dimensions a little bit and adds lots of line of sight blocking cover but the white house ingame is realistically small and lacking in cover.

Couple that with the tendency of late pd2 heists to not ramp up difficulty and spam enemies with irritating objectives and you just have pure misery.

Just tried it again with an even better build and doing better than ever, still got downed 15+ times in a span of about 3 minutes because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ underground bit. DUDE WHAT IS THIS LEVEL DESIGN, THE ENEMIES MULTIPLY LIKE 10 TIMES AND THERE'S NO COVER, I CAN'T AVOID BEING SHOT AT ALL

they probably did it accidentally and did not know about the windows.

Just use the staircase and upper floor. It makes that part stupid easy.
