I'm a fan of the repeater from the western pack because of the mag size. Honourable mention for the Thanatos for being a bulldozer killer.

Define best? The Platypus is a great all around sniper capable of one shotting elites, 1 shot head shotting tans, and 2 shot head shotting shields.

The Thanatos can 3 shot a Dozer without added skills to boost the damage. I've heard with an extremely precise build it can 1 shot dozers.

The Lebensauger offers a fast rate of fire as well as some nice concealment abilities to reach SB/LB viability.

Depends what you are shooting for. Realistically you are choosing either concealment or not. There aren't many mods available for each sniper so deciding your attachments is really straight forward, either get the highest concealment attachments or get the highest other stat ones. Laser module is personal preference, stability is pretty useless for a sniper, so if you want a straight laser gadget instead of the combined module with a flashlight that's up to you. The Theia scope is my personal favorite, but once again it's personal preference, some people like holo sights.

The Nagant is great to have for quick shots especially with only the iron sights.

i like the platypus and lebensauger. both are great in concealed and non-concealed builds, as well as silent killer and non-silent killer builds

im not a fan of the winchestor due to the long reload and crummy sights
nagent i dont like because its a platypus where the ironsights mean you cant see ♥♥♥♥ through your hand every time you fire
thanatos i hate because it carries no ammo with no pickup and its just not needed
rattlesnake i dont like because lebensauger is just so much better in every way
R93 i dont like because platypus exists

I used the repeater recently since I got the biker skin for it and I really like it for the same reason as Peanits (mag size). If you invest in silencer skills it can 1 shot tans which is nice. Only issue is you either have to use iron sights, which is harder at longer ranges, or use the scope that is almost impossible to use on a dark level.

id say nagant as the same DLC pack gives you a LMG

the thanatos is too much and moast others are worse or on par with it.

while were at it, why dont the DMR kits add shield penetration that would open up so many more options

Nagant for me, it's a great all round user with no real downsides compared to other snipers.

Thantos has too little ammo to be more than a gimmick gun.
Rattlesnake is too weak to be worthwhile
Platypus and R93 are both lesser versions of the Nagant.

Lebansauger is okay, it's reload is pretty bad for a magazine fed weapon but not "too" bad for a sniper. I feel like to use a sniper effectively you can slow up and take your time to get those headshots. The iron sights are also really nice if you don't need the zoom of the scopes.

Anyone that is saying something negative about the Thanatos doesn't understand its role. It's a utility gun, like the RPG, HE Shotguns, or Explosive Crossbows(and Grenade Launchers to an extent, though less so). Utility Guns are not used for killing trash mobs on the map. They are used for killing/stunning Dozers, Shields, and Winters.

i know, but even then its too much.
you dont need something like the thanatos to deal with specials because on deathwish other snipers do it just as well for one
bulldozers arent a huge issue with a HE shotgun or GL, the thanatos actually takes quite a long time to kill dozers
and winters just dies in 2s flat with HE, trying anything else just isnt worth it

not saying you cant use it, there's just no point apart from the fun

My only gripe with the Thanatos is it doesn't bypass the visor mechanics on the bulldozer. So you end up killing it in the same amount of shots as any other sniper.

That and the RPG does everything it does better now.
