Can you play missions on offline?

I just got this game as gift, and going to be my first time playing it. But what I am thinking now is that online is required to play. Is there?

you can play offline. simply put steam into offline mode, load the game, click crime.net offline. the AI isnt sparkling but can get you through some missions. Stealth is much more difficult but at least you dont have idiots spoiling it (you can only blame yourself!)

I think OVERKILL needs to improve the AI bots. These bots are badly doing anything.

Back in PD:TH, they were great in protecting the player. I just wish they fix them soon.

Try it out. Pressing "Cime.net Offline" doesn't hurt :)

I played lot of times offline.

Before my first Infamy I used offline for training purposes and played few missions until I have mastered stuff like shooting with different weapons, accomplishing tasks, taking hostages, etc...

I accomplished Tabula Rasa offline - it's so cool that you can even pause (by pressing "Esc") while doing the mission, if someone calls you, etc.

There's not many heists you can easily clear out alone. The game is tied to a lot of trial and error and the final phase is usually a matter of crowd-control. Alone and without skills youwill have a hard time completing any of them. Grab a few friends, perhaps find an online lobby that won't automatically kick you (if such a thing still exists even) and let them show you the ropes on heists like Jewelry Store and Bank Heist: Cash. Those are pretty low-risk and Bank Heist has a massive cash payout if you have someone with a portable saw for being fairly low-risk.

Given the learning curve, the game tends to be most fun if you have a friend that has already gone through the introduction process and learn and improve together with them.
