The Wolf vs. The Clown: Lupin the 3rd/Payday crossover

This is something I've had kicking around in my mind for awhile, so I figured I might as well pull the trigger (pun intended).

For those not in the know, Lupin the 3rd is an anime/manga series that has been running since the 1960's about the adventures of the master thief Arsene Lupin III, grandson of the likewise great thief.

Here's a very basic example scenario to chew on - Bain receives a job from an unknown client who wants the Payday gang to travel to Japan and commit a series of minor crimes for a significant reward: the catch is, they must all wear red jackets (Lupin's signature style) and cause as much havok as possible.

This draws Lupin's attention, and a nightime meeting is scheduled where he calls out the gang for their crude actions and impersonation. Before anyone can explain themselves, the place is surrounded by police - it was a trap to catch everyone in a single place. After fighting their way out, the two groups work to figure out who the client is who set them up, before going after them at their home/headquarters and stealing everything they own.

that makes no sense. He has a clear reason to want a Lupin crossover, since Lupin is a thief, like the payday gang
