A few questions about mods and modding
I have a few questions about modding, ason PC modding is very popular and there are mods to for Payday 2 I was looking on Last Bullet with ang some, but I am a little confused about a couple of things.

You see I've looked at a lot of the mods on LB and they look really good, ones that change icons and backrounds in the lobby, icons when picking masks and the texture of the get-way van. There's a large one that I saw on another site, a re-texture project which looks really good and improves the looks of Payday 2 by replacing the texture models for better ones.

But my problem is that how can I be specific mods are legal, I mean yes they are graphical mods that alter the look of Payday 2 and, unless by some fluke theother players had it installed too when I'm playing I'f be the only one that sees the changes it is still altering game files and my worry is it may, rightly or wrongly, be classed as cheating even though the mods give no advanatge and are merely cosmetic changes.

I would like ot be able to use mods and it would be nice if there was some clarification as I'm unsure exactly if modding is viewed as legit/rule breaking or just depending on the specific mod you are using.

Using mods is completely allowed, overkill cannot and will not ever ban you from playing the game, some mods might brand you a cheater in games but 99% of the time that will be listed on the mods page.

Only rank cheats or achievement cheats will get you banned from the community group, you'll still be able to play the game though albeit with much less respect from everyone you play with.

Tl;dr, you're fine if you dont download hacks an example of which is Payday2 MVP mod.

To be honest I saw a lotof mods that change textures and stuff which I assume, as only I have them installed wouldn't appear to the other 3 heist members. I was thinking about installing a re-texture project mod which makes the graphics look better, a mod that changes the icons for the masks so they are in color rather than b&w, a mod that changes the menu picture to a hotline miami one, a mod to change the getaway van skin to the Mystery Machine, and one that changes the mugshots in the character selection screen, did see a custom heist mod but guessed even without any achievements attached it probably broke the rules. See this is what I mean, would be nice if t here was specific clarification on what would be ok and which would brand you a cheater so you know which ones to avoid as not all are obvious.

It was really late early morning when I wrote this original post and I should have really left it till I was not as tired, so going to re-write it to make sense.

Overkill has officially supported the Last Bullet site for Payday 2 modding and has even donated funds to assist with server fees.

Most all mods on that site are approved for use by Overkill, and game mechanic changing ones have a disclaimer for use in public lobbies (which are still approved).

As far as banning, Overkill will not ban a player, even if they indeed were using cheats. Anti cheat will autokick certaib cheaters that if they are the client, however there is nothing to stop a host from cheating. The Steam moderators can ban a player from the forums and community group, which will remove usage rights to community items and heists including Hoxton Breakout.

I am aware of the toothless approach Overkill has towards cheating, frankly I think they could/should do more, but more concerned with getting banned from the community for using a mods while unaware they label me as a cheat and then losing access to the community stuff as a result.

Only DLC unlockers will label you, I would not worry about it at all, just go for it :)

DLC unlockers, bag spawning, and deployable spawning are the only things that mark you a cheater.

SAM or other achievement unlockers are the only evidence the moderators here look for when banning from the community.

Most of what I am looking at are graphical changes to change the appearance of menu screen, item selection screen, etc, the only one I did look at and decide against was a custom heist which I figured was definately going to get me in trouble (and be unplayable anyway as it's reliant on others having it), other than it's mainly just been mods to improve how the game looks.

Just do it, Also those custom heists are still fun to play solo, just grab betterbots and you should be fine to play those alone :)

I was looking at the one with all the fences, forget the name but looks like it'd be an interesting one, and Green Harvest too.

Wouldn't Better Bots be viewed as cheating as your making the game easier, and the bots are actually how they should be instead of acting like they've just had a lobotomy.

green harvest aint bad, its a bit too much like all the other bank heists though.
Not sure what this fences thing is though, I have a bunch of custom heists installed and story modes etc, it's a shame it causes others to crash when they dont have em installed also.
Personally my view on betterbots is it just does what bots should do really, stick close to you and help you out when you need them to, when you are hosting it announces itself in the lobby when people join, people are free to leave if they don't like it. :)

Although at the moment you dont even need betterbots, just spec frenzy and you are a 1 man army :P

Maybe it is just me but since they altered the way the skills work and are set up it seems a little overpowered, I mean I'll be honest not the greatest player around but been a few rounds where I've had the most kills and accuracy as with perks and skills I am taking less damage and less reliant on neeidng ammo bags as I've managed to max out my ammo while having Inspire to help teamates up, before (and maybe it''s just my memory) there seemed to be less chance to be able to have both together without ignoring everything else.

looks cool, not so sure about using a controller though :D

I'm a console gamer... well was, still am... erm anyway yeah more used to using a controller than keys, plus I can barely remember last week so no way I could memorize the keys other than the basic WASD movement.
