Sentry Turret Uselessness
I realized that the sentry turrets, in order to be placed, now require you to use YOUR ammo from YOUR pockets to load them and if you dont have enough ammo you cant place them at all.... well thats just great. So whats the point of having 4 sentry turrets if placing 2 of them requires 75% of your ammo?? The ammunition load for every character is already very low and now they expect us to have even less ammo for something that shouldn't even require my ammunition to place to begin with. I like the new skill tree setup but the fact that the turret requires ammunition for you to place is the dumbest change they could've made. Now Im running around with 3 turrets in my pocket because I cant even use them. Isn't also redundant to have the turrets now? Before they were there to suppliment your firepower, but now you'll have less ammo to fight off police your self, consequently hurting the team. It's like stealing from Peter to pay Paul. Its ridiculous and whatever dev thought that'd be a great change should be beaten with an aluminum bat, thanks for listening!

The first skill in the sentry tree is reduce the ammo to put them, and you can get them back if you need ammo, and there's another skill that lets you bring another deployable in that same tree so you can bring ammo bags

Sentries..... useless?

Looks like someone has no idea what they're talking about.

Sentries are incredibly broken, what are you even talking about?
Slap a shield on it, place one down in a crowded area say the sewers in Birth of sky, turn a failure into a victory almost instantly.
They have much faster rof, no reloading, indestructable from the front and can be placed down in pairs of two with eco sentry, shoot through shields and can never be 100% "Disabled."
The ammo thing is the only thing balancing them, other then that use the ammo bag a few times have six sentries shooting every cop before they can do anything.

Sentries are very strong you just need to bring an ammo bag or have someone else bring one. those AP rounds so good

Bring 2 grenade launchers and abuse the sentries. Use them in conjuction with Maniac to be an unstoppable engineer.

Also, sentries are rediculously good, you just don't know how to use them.

Put sentries at spawn points, set them to AP rounds, and manage them effectively, you won't hardly even see any cops on the map. Bring a GL-40 and a LEO, gather pickups, and don't waste ammo and you won't even have to tear through ammo bags.

They will outkill your most skilled killing machine player every time.

When you have ammo (which you usually should), armor-piercing sentries are way too good. OVK wants to nerf the sentries' combat proficiency soon.

That being said, you need ammo. Bring ammo-efficient weapons (grenade launchers, shotguns) and have someone bring you an ammo bag. Pretty good trade-off for 6 automatic guns of destruction.

Just be efficient with your ammo and you'll never have trouble deploying sentries. You hardly require any points to buff up their efficiency or damage, and they'll quite easily mow down a horde of police at any given time if you position them well. You can even use a shielded sentry to distract Winters and his crew for a stupidly short and easy fight when they arrive.

Once somebody in my lobby said that due to the $15 minimum wage, automation has taken over our jobs as heisters. Bain had a plan to remove human heisters and replace them with robotic guns.

Good job, people.

High Rate of fire weapons works too

It isn't very nice to make such comments about the devs. Please no more of that. Regardless of what you think about a skill or change, they're people, and they read here.

Of course sentries require ammo to place: they shoot things. They're literally a gun in a case and need bullets just like the other guns. :D
With the amount of killing wreckage they do, the pickups from its dead will fill your ammo right back up. Sentries are actually pretty OP. Buy an ammo asset when they're available (and not spawing on the moon) or bring some with JoaT if you really need to and you can lock down the whole map. Run them with Gambler and you'll have even less trouble.

Im sorry if my fictional violence offended you but it was not meant as an actual threat, merely a joke... or was it!?! >.> Anyways, yea I've just been using the wrong setup, the shear number of replies has proven me wrong haha.

Dear god sentries are so good. I don't even NEED to shoot things with my own ammo, I throw down four of these bullet puppies and toggle AP rounds on, with silenncers and they will massacre everyone.

I used only 2 on Hox Breakout and for day 2 they racked up over 300 kills. I had to pick them up to reload them a few times but THREE HUNDRED KILLS FROM A ROBOT, PEOPLE.

A lot of people think of game devs as a kind mythological thing since they don't always participate in their forums so it's easy to forget. We have a fair number of them wandering free range though. ^_^

It takes a little practice if you hadn't used the old ones (which weren't all that great so most people didn't - myself included). A couple Mallcrasher runs might do some good to try some different strats to get it down. That one has an ammo asset so it's a help and a number of good places to set them up and watch them murderate everything. I messed around with them solo a few times before taking them to Rats to block the house off from any cop. My team mates might have been a little frustrated with me from boredom
