The Weight Of Money Bags
So, the money piles you find in a lot of heists have always had me wondering: "How much would one of those piles weigh, and why do they prohibit movement so much? I did some basic (late 8th grade) maths and found a possible solution.

Looking at reference pictures I could see that a normal pile of money consisted of 36 bundles of 10.000 dollars each, a quick wikipedia search later I found out that one 100USD bill weighs around a gram. *100x100 is 10.000, 100 bills in one bundle, 1 gram each: 1 bundle equals 100 grams x 36 bundles is 3600 grams. 10x36 is 360 grams*
I added 10 grams to every bundle with the weight of the paper straps around the bundles.

This adds up to a total of 3960 grams, or just under 4 kilos.
And in conclusion: This in reality would barely make it harder to move, let alone prohibit sprinting.

*DISCLAIMER* This could be completely wrong and I may look really stupid to some people, but this was solely a fun little thought and should not be taken seriously and is not critique but a short wonder from a fan, feel free to correct me if anyone sees any fault/s. Thanks for reading

look it up on one of the possible millions of websites where you can watch it for free. It's a 20+ year old movie it's bound to be free to view in other places besides Netflix.

Well, fill a large gym bag with newspapers or books and try running with that

Maybe books aren't the best example. I had like 5 or so books in my backpack when I was in high school, and only 1 out of every 3 people that tried could lift it. My back still aches.

The real answer is game balance.
Try to lug 1 Assault Rifle/Battle Rifle/Sniper Rifle/Shotgun/MACHINE GUN, 1 SMG, 1-2 satchel of Medicine/Ammo/ECM/C4, Ammo for guns. YEAH it's not that heavy isn't it?

I dunno, if you watch Heat, Kilmer has kind of a tough time packing the bags (though he put 2 in at once, hacker). That plus the fact that bags are unwieldly and you're carrying a boatload of ammunition, two guns, and a satchel kind of makes the excess poundage count.

It is not necessarily the weight, but that it is bulky and slung over a single shoulder. You're trying to aim with something bulky hanging over just one shoulder. Yes, it slows you down because you're always aiming rather than slinging the gun over your shoulder to focus on running.

I totally get that it would be difficult to run, but looking at the bags of coke, you're easily carrying the same amount of weight and the size would be very close. It seems like if you can sprint with the coke, you should be able to sprint with the cash.

No one sane enjoys running with 4 kilos on their back.

my post actually had a link to the bank heist scene in it
The crew bags are sportsbags that go like this: 40 by 45 cm square part that goes on at least more than a meter long. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuboid#mediaviewer/File:Cuboid_simple.svg

Then get the density of a dollar bills and mutliply by the total volume.

Also weapons must be around 4/5 kg for primary (still too light), more than 1kg for primaries. Ammo/Meds/mines/ECM/turrets satchels may add less than 2kg.
Armors must weight between 5 to 20kg.
Around 30 kg... Have fun carrying all that.

That still is tough with a bag on top. Mostly it's not convenient, so you can't run with one.
Technically the same bag filled with Gold Ingots would be hard to be held by even two men with all that equipement.
Look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_one_hundred-dollar_bill
155.956 mm by 66.294 mm, let's say 10k are 2cm wide.

I think it's more of an issue that we don't know the actual value of the money-piles as it variates between both heists and difficulty.
We could, of course, go with Bank Heist as default value in terms of heist (due being probably the most constant as also Big Bank, GO Bank have that value), meaning we need to reduce decide the value by difficulty.
The alternative is we go by the safehouse, which have a set value no matter what (of 250.000$ - as you get a pack of 4 of them every time you get a new full million spending). Going by 100-bills again, we got a total of 2500 bills per pack, which equals 2.5kg per pile (or 5.5lbs for those in the US).
That's not a lot of weight - but a lot of volume, however, as we see. So it's not that it's heavy but it's bulky.

I did some extra research on the whole loadout of a normal low level'd heist.
M4 carbine(amcar ingame) Fully loaded: 6kg
Glock 17 (Chimano 88) Fully loaded: just under 1.64kg
A first Aid Kit: around 5kg (add/take some)
Average military kevlar vest: 2.7kg

This adds up to a total loadout weight of around 15kg(19 with a bag), yes that is a lot and would be hard to carry but (weird logic incoming!) considering the crew can run quite fast with the basic loadout but not with the bags on.

I saw someone mention they are just focused on aiming at the police, though i understand their situation this doesn't account for stealthing or just running like ♥♥♥♥ to the van
Overkill, i DEMAND an explanation! ...please?

Actually, the AMCAR is a M733, the CAR-4 is an M4.
