If it is anything, and I am not suggesting that there is something between them, she is just an immature girl with a crush on someone mysterious.
Pretty much. She seems the type - add on top she's a try-hard for being insane.
Anyone murdering people like the PAYDAY Gang does is almost certainly ill. (However, the actual canonical actions and kill count of the Gang are arguable.) But in comparison to the other members, Sydney definitely comes off as a tryhard.
Dallas seems to be under the impression that he is helping the American people, and that the government is evil, tricky, corrupt, whatever word works. This is rarely hinted, but I recall certain things in the Payday For You and Me song from PDTH, the PD2 webseries, and in PD2. Pretty much a neo-Patriot.
Chains believes himself invincible, evidenced by certain lines in-game, challenging cops to kill him. Some sort of ego or broken adrenaline thing going on. He was a Navy Seal, after all.
Wolf actually seems to be the most normal once we look into it. He had a family and kids, but his company failed. Stress, losing everything, etc. Then he cracked, and often resorts to reenacting movies. He has some sort of personality issue (I can't put my finger on the name) but its one easily associated with non-violent, law-abiding people, almost entirely unlike the other members of the PAYDAY Gang,
Hoxton seems to be a classic, thorny individual who grew up as a troublemaker. Getting into gangs and juvie and such, and it simply escalated.
Houston is an odd one, and I've still to figure him out. Mostly seems like the classic indebted concept, except that Houston got himself out of debt - with force. Lots of swindling and stealing, but we can see force is very evident in PD2.
John Wick is of a collaboration. Not going to say much, but its possible grief has bent him. I doubt he'd go about killing perfectly innocent cops for cash, though.
Clover is just violent. I forget where I can source this, but this is definitely backed up. I remember reading some things about women and men in terms of mental issues, and cases with female murderers. Totally seems plausible.
Dragan is under the impression that he is invincible (me and my friends often mimic him saying "You can't kill me, I am invincible!"), and is very notably interested in money and living like a king than other members. His agenda to make money and enjoy violence is mentioned quickly and fully on the wiki page, and his story definitely evidences this. His position as a corrupt Interpol agent, working with the Butcher (who clearly has a pretty decent setup), and the trailer of him actually backstabbing and agent further this argument.
Jacket is very debatable - there's a lot between Hotline Miami 1 and 2, and PAYDAY 2. The most plausible and sensible possibility in my mind is that he's a Fan-like individual looking to bust skulls and enjoy the life of a member of the PAYDAY Gang. But he's also a collaboration character. Anyways, serious sociopathy, violent, blah blah blah. He's a seriously crazy fellow, and unhinged.
And I can go on. But I'll cut to Sydney.
Sydney is very based on and makes lots of references to anti-social and rebellious culture and concepts. Hair, boots, suit with rolled up sleeves, and so on. A total rebel, or Anarchist. She also often states how insane she is. One hundred percent reminds me of edgy, young people. Then again, maybe she really is mentally ill, because this issue has lasted into her mid-20's, as opposed to her teens, and that it has escalated. Actually reminds me of individuals who were socially rejected from a young age, and her actions reflect such. Its a relatively common thing. I also remember something about insanity when I was writing a report on sociopathy. Typically people who state their mental illness (serious ones, not like Aspergers or ADHD). Either way, she's an edgy, rebellious teen who's situation has escalated. My opinion has changed after thinking over this in how her issue has escalated, but still roots in being a touchy rebel teen. In that, however, many significantly insane people are that way due to social rejection from a young age. Reminds me of goth stories like Frankenstein and such, or Francis Dolarhyde in Red Dragon.
She's a "down with the system," and "fight the man oppressing the little guys" type of gal.
Odds are she idolized the Payday guys for physically fighting back against the corrupt Government, which is why she stole from them. She wanted to impress them and show them that she likes what they're doing and wants to join them and help them "fight the power!"
This is why she'll say things like "Time to show them I belong in this crew."
In short, she's an anarchist, views the Payday Gang as a band of Anarchist heroes fighting the corrupt government (like Dallas' viewpoint) and wants to prove she belongs with them.
She's in it mainly for the cause and fun.
one of her pager responses is lyrics to rick astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up'
