How does infamy work exactly?

New player here! I was wondering how does infamy work exactly since I've heard it removes all your levels.

And some random related questions: Does infamy give an XP boost so you can get to your desired level quicker? Can you decide when to get an infamy level? What are the rewards even? I wanna spend some time in this game since it's really fun.

when you go infamy you are reset to lvl 0
that means no skills, limited guns(you keep the guns you bought but cant use them until you level up enough), but you keep perk decks

outside of the first level(when you get slightly cheaper max lvl skills) all rewards are either consmetic or faster xp gain

after some resets resetting your infamy also stops costing offshore money

>get those levels again
>go infamy
>get a cooler number on your name
>do this a million times

you get xp boosts until infamy 25,you can go infamy whenever you want, the rewards are mostly cosmetics like masks,outfits and gloves

So I won't be able to use my automatic pistol and my shotgun that is as small as the penis of a Genshin Impact fan from the start? That's just depressing, thank you two for the help!.

Since this wasn't already answered, yes you can decide when you'd like to Infamy - you can stay at Level 100 for as long as you like.

Once you're Level 100, go to your load out screen and click on the Infamy menu to go Infamous. For the first 5 levels of Infamy, you must have at least $200 million offshore money (and you lose all your money as well when you do go Infamous, for the first 5 levels of Infamy), and you also cannot have an active Crime Spree.

sadly you won't be able to, but one or two heists should be enough for you to unlock most weapons (and most likely your favorites)

Just get infamy 1 if you want more skill points
Get to infamy 25 if you want exp boosts

And here's a tip to get low detection rate as a level 0 player
Buy any Akimbo pistols (I recommend Akimbo Interceptor 45 cause you are allowed to use them as a level 0)
You will prob be at 4 or 3 detection rate with Akimbo pistols + Chimano 88 (The starter pistol)
