Can a bot ignite enemies with a shotgun modified with dragon breath rounds?
Im just curious, I know bots are awful with shotguns but if they can ignite, it might be fun to see

No for whatever reason the shots are turned back into normal shots and to be frank shotguns REALLY aren't a good weapon choice for the AI to use since they aim for headshots giving them something like an LMG will be a better choice for them.

You can equip a shotgun that has DB to a bot, but it will just give it a cosmedic effec with the muzzle effect

Mods do not affect bot weapons. Bots will handle weapons as if they were stock

im guessing its the same for all rounds? (AP, Buckshot, Fletchette)

Buckshot are just normal shots with increased damage, bots might not use special rounds but anything that affects the weapons stats like damage will not bother them, but as I mentioned shotguns aren't the best option for them since they go for headshots.

why is that a problem? also why would a lmg be better for that?

not arguing its a genuine question
Its not a problem, its their programming as for the LMG be better its not for the headshot its for the long stream of bullets that can be shot as bots fire in bursts.

Bots are shooting in bursts with random length. Numbers like damage, precision, min/max length of bursts and min/max length of pause between bursts are depending just on the weapons category. If I'm not wrong there isn't a difference between weapons in the same category aside the magazine size. Single shot weapons have a burst length of 1 so automatic weapons are much faster.

Snipers have the most damage per hit and are the most precise weapons so many players prefere them for big distance while LMGs aren't precise and have lower damge per hit (I think the lowest damage from all bot weapons) but they have the highest DPS because of the bursts and the giant magazine size and for closer enemy groups the precision doesn't matter so much.

Another issue with snipers is bots can't make use of their ability to pierce armor without the skill being assigned to one of them, a slot that can better served for another that stacks with the number of AI present.

I had this in my text... then I deleted it while rearranging some parts and forgot about this.
All bot weapons, including sniper rifles and shotguns, are shooting the same normal bullets for the hit calculation. Shotguns are just visually different. Without the skill no weapon is penetrating anything. With the skill every weapon is ignoring shields and body armor. Since they are targeting the head the body armor doesn't make a real difference for them with a automatic weapon but in my opinion the shield penetrating is very usefull.

Maybe it also depends on their formation when you have them defend an spot, I remember doing day 3 of firestarter on very hard while I was opening the boxes I would hear nothing but RPK fire from the bots in a triangle formation outside the door making them able to deal with literally every kind of threat that came to them.

Enemies on Very Hard have little health, and since the RPK has fast fire rate and high-ish damage, they can shred through crowds of enemies

Well, if you need your bots to be more powerfull, try this (random order):
Bot 1: Thanatos
Bot 2: RPK
Bot 3: Izhma

I promise you, you will want them to equip weaker weapons, specialy if you play only up to overkill.

But regarding your question:
* You can equip bots almost every weapon except special ones.
* Weapon mods do not count for bot
* Bots have no ammo issues (you can equip even weapons that YOU would have ammo issues in an instant ; Like RPK or Thanatos ^^ )

And Akimbo weapons, don't forget the akimbo weapons!

RPK doesn't have THAT bad of an ammo pickup maybe it did when you last used it but it doesn't anymore whenever I use it.

1) Almost every - as you quoted ;)
2) It's like the Akimbo Tatonka (smg), it's awesome up to overkill, but then (mayhem+) you DO get ammo issues.
2.a) I usualy play on Mayhem+ - where enemys eat more bullets until they roll on the floor with a full stomage :p
2.b) So I'd rather take the KSP.

Brenner 21 is a nice LMG to use on bots in my opinion
