Graphics look ugly and gameplay is not what i expected
I Play on what i believe is the highest video settings, at 1440P but the game like textures of streets etc look not that detailed and just adequate. I know the game is from 2014, but i expected better.

- Any mods to upgrade the visuals?

I play L4D2 daily again after years of not playing and that game in comparison looks way way better than PD2. Atleast in the training mission, i picked up the game again this week and did 2 tutorial missions with usb stick but was a bit dissapointed even with gameplay.

- Should i just go in a heist with not playing trough tutorial?

I was bored with tutorial and very blend. I know its not a bad game i played the payday 1 game 10 hours and i remember there was good levels there. But i'm a bit dissapointed, its not really fun or engaging. should i just play the game/heist online to change my mind about gameplay? I was expecting a fun like wise l4d2/coop experience

Honestly, the game is pretty boring without friends. Tutorial missions are always boring, since they're meant to just teach you the basics. The game gets better with later heists that need planning.

Still, definitely a game to play with friends.

Why would you "expect better" from a game that's probably half the age of some of the new players now? L4D2 in no way looks better than Payday 2 at its best. I play both. L4D2 has some cool mods to improve the characters and various visual elements but the game itself is very much of its time when it comes to visuals, it was no Crysis.

The tutorial missions are babby's first heist. If you're disappointed with them and taking the time to complain here but not trying an actual heist first that's just wasting your time and being silly. It'd take less time to do some heists than it would to make this thread and follow it.

Game plays well solo and many people enjoy it that way the most, but with a friend or a full crew of friends it's also really fun and for some that is what makes it. Game has stealth and loud options for play to suit various tastes. This thread is pointless really as you're doing a bad review of a game you admit you've not really played.

Have you played left 4 dead 2 and actually compared it to payday 2? I play both recently and while yes l4d2 isnt crysis 2 or 3 level it sure looks great even in 2020. It looks simple, refined textures, very nice enviremonts, character models,... and when i did the "baby" heists everything just looked uninspired and with rough textures, models especially ground textures and like in the distance. I played 40 mins or so and i'm already bored with this usb task but i'll probably force myself trough it even if i dont like it, just wanna try a heist and change my mind, but idk something about it looks off.

I play on 27inch screen 2560x1440 and it feels like the game isnt resoluted at this 1440p size but just upscaled 1080p. Probably easiest described as feels your playing on a lower resolution of your actual résolution.

Also the text action thingys an hud take up 10%screen and look like 50pt size fonts.. can u lower that? And running feels bit goofy and unnatural.

Most people I've played with don't use mics. I have one but don't use it, preferring text chat over voice. Even with a friend, there's isn't too much of a difference for me to require mic use, unlike other games (Hell Let Loose, for example).

Since Payday The Heist starts you off in a loud heist, try doing a loud heist. Stealth tactics are nuanced and it's best to learn from someone who knows what they're doing. If after trying loud heists you don't feel like playing PD2 then don't force yourself to play it. Seeing that you only have 10 hours in PDTH I will guess that you won't want to play PD2, even though in many ways this game is superior.

To get a sense of how deep this game can get, you can spend a few hundred hours and only be decently good (loud/stealth combined). Lastly, HYOG (host your own games) if you decide to play public lobbies in Crime.net.

Hope this helps.

Someone DOESN'T know how advanced Crysis one's graphics were at the time of release if they are trying to use the downgrades as a comparison!

The tutorial heists are nothing like the base game in terms of how heists are approached. It's not linear like that at all usually.

Yes, Crysis 1 was a leap in tech compared to anything for a good while. People still love those tree effects. There's a reason it became the benchmark for "can it run X". It was made to be able to do stuff that the players' hardware at the time couldn't even do, in the hopes that hardware would catch up with it later on and then instead of single core ever faster CPUS we got increasing numbers of multicores and that kind of messed things up for how they thought things would develop as you've got to code differently to take advantage of multicores.

And like I said already OP, I play L4D2 plenty before and after it had the recent spurt of community updates and I know what it and Payday 2 looks like. I don't care how much someone says they play L4D2 or what they play it on (BTW the quality of the textures and models in that game are not up to the standards that OP is displaying them on anyway, so whatever) ESPECIALLY when that person repeatedly states they haven't even bothered to play PD2 properly to even make a valid comparison! It's just idiotic. Like reviewing a restaurant's food by peeking in the windows. Play through the heists and then you can judge.

Anyone who still plays L4D2 or anything of that vintage or older should be able to judge a game on...GAMEPLAY, instead of complaining that they aren't getting next gen AAA graphics from a game that's from 2013(!!) that never had the goal of being next gen graphics in the first place. If you "expect better" from such a game then you are misinformed or mistaken. It's that simple. SWAT 3 and 4 are still some of the best tactical games out there, especially for the police niche. Both look like budget games in visuals now, even though they were expensive to make back then. This is how it goes with time. In gameplay though they are superb and still have people buying them and modding them.

This is also true. They are just the absolute barest minimum and simplified to act as tutorials, which makes sense. Most heist maps are open and allow you to choose your routes and discover things as well as having a lot of random elements to keep things interesting. None of those things would make sense for specifically designed tutorial heists though which by their nature need to be very linear to make sure that the player is doing things right and understanding the mechanics of it.

Compare it to Big Bank or other heists and it's night and day difference for complexity. They were added late on as a little free extra for future new players to get an easier time learning if they choose to use them. There was no tutorial for years.

Its not even just the effects, Crysis one was literally the only game at the time to feature not only a pure open world environment but also everything in that environment could be interacted with in some way coming back to the trees with enough gunfire you could sever the trunks from the stumps something that's never seen ever except for scripted events.

L4D has a more vibrant art style that is less prone to aging. It's like comparing if Wind Waker or Call of Duty/MoH managed to stay looking good even almost 2 decades. Guess which one still holds up?

Those would have my vote because those were my childhood! I don't care about graphics as long as the game in question brings back good memorizes.

I mean, a game can still be fun regardless of how it looks. I still try to find NES/SNES/N64/PS1/etc. games I've never played and have loads of fun playing gems I missed.

Graphics add to a game, they usually aren't the most important thing.

The only thing that breaks a game for me would be what camera it uses like the classic Resident Evil games and Silent Hill games with their birdeye cameras as I call them, I wouldn't be able to play those games because of the camera would hide enemies around a corner or two.
