Is crime spree really that OP?
So I was playing a Shadow Raid with some "Infamy 10" players who said that they somehow managed to get an entire infamy level (level 4 to 5) in less than 10 minutes (and 1 person managed to get from infamy 2 to infamy 5 in 8 minutes) with crime spree. Is it really that easy to get XP via crime spree, or are they just bullshitting me? I know that infamy cheating has been quite prevalent in this game, and I just am more curious about if crime spree really give as massive of XP payouts as they are claiming.

Regardless, they didn't play like infamy 10 players in the least. Kinda disappoints me that infamy doesn't seem to be very prestigious/difficult to achieve if it truly is that easy to farm XP with crime spree.

Good to hear. Kind of a shame that that ever was a thing though.

it was a thing because OVK didn't expect people to get 9e14 Crimespree levels, though they had never bothered to fix it, until they did Update 200 (as stated above), which added 475 more Infamy levels, that meant Crimespree had to be fixed, or we would have had people with Infamy D 5 hours after the update dropped.

Infamy isn't a prestige thing even without Crimespree boosting, since people can easily hack their Infamy level to be higher than they've played. There are already people out there showing Infamy CXV and stupid ♥♥♥♥ like that.

it is, the fact that people can cheat it makes it no different, there are lots of other games that can have their Prestige Systems cheated, heck, lots of games can be cheated to obtain stuff yet that doesn't diminish their existance, you have a game like Terraria for example, where there's a damn online character editor that lets you give yourself anything in the game, literally anything, yet that doesn't make you go "well, people can easily hack their items to be anything better than what they should actually have", does it?

A mindset like that is honestly absurd.

There's this concept that's associated with most things in the world called "value". Most things have a value that is conditional, i.e: a beautiful flower has aesthetic value once it blooms, until it withers.

Infamy levels no longer have value because the default assumption of anyone who's played for long enough is "this is probably not genuine". When the literal only value of the level itself is for PRESTIGE and you can cheat to get the level, there is no prestige and no value.

The cosmetics and stuff are not related to the value of the infamy level by the way, since the better rewards are not necessarily at higher levels. Those stupid glove options are dumb-looking and are at a high infamy level, after all.

Interesting, you start describing value as a subjective appeal, then completely dismiss cosmetic value because of subjective opinion.

In game there is a mechanic called Catch-Up bonus. If you join a Crimespree of somewhere between 12k-15k a successful heist will “Catch-Up” your Crimespree approximately 550 levels. Cashing in a 550 valued Crimespree will net around 23.3 million XP which is enough to go 0 to 100.

Players used to use this to get easy Infamy levels in 5 to 10 minutes, they would join an ultra high Crimespree at level 100 (Crimespree level 0), finish the heist, become infamous, then cash in the Crimespree to get an instant 100 levels again. Rinse and Repeat.

Update 200 changed this mechanic in 2 ways. 1st you can no longer receive a Catch-Up bonus unless you are already level 100. Secondly, you can no longer become Infamous with a suspended Crimespree. These changes have completely removed Crimespree as a viable form of XP farming.

Personally, I believe the Catch-Up bonus should be removed entirely from the game. It serves near no purpose at all and is an extremely abusive mechanic. However, I do believe Crimesprees should still allow carryover into Infamy. This mechanic allows players to grind for XP to become infamous, while still being level 100. Crimespree without the Catch-Up bonus is no faster than playing regular heists for XP, but with the proposed change it can still be beneficial for grinding while maintaining a level 100 skillset.

that is precisely why I used Terraria as an example, when you play with someone with your normally used character, they'll most likely think you cheated your stuff and viceversa, but that doesn't render all of your or their progress useless, you did what you wanted to achieve and got your fun out of it, if taking stuff as cheated/hacked rendered your real progress "Valueless", then if im playing a game and someone calls me a hacker, all my hours in that game were totally wasted and I should just stop playing, "why should I keep playing if xXX_M4ST3RPL4Y3R_XXx called me a hacker? now my playtime was a waste and I (apparently) can't have fun with my game!!!"

that's stupid.
