I use akimbo strick ones since they have good ammo pickup
Friend of mine is a "killing machine" - meaning that on maps where most people do 50-150 kills, he does 200-300, on a bad day.
We gave him the 'weakest' (40 base dmg) pistols, me took minigun, another friend took KSP, but our friend using pistols still had the double kills than each of us (and still more than both of us 'special / lmg' users combined)..
That has happened on deathwish.
Saying:
It doesnt matter on the weapon, but your and the build's skills.
And something to get off my chest:
* There is no 'the best' --> it always depends on the circumstances (skills, maps. gamestyle, preferences, equipment combination/setup)
For extample, the Stryk is pretty cool with the right skill set and gamestyle, but without it, they'll pretty bad due to ammo pickup.
Likewise for the .. Parabellum.. 1 or 2 shot dozers on Mayhem (i dont recall, been a while ago).
This said, weapons that do more than 100 base dmg should only be used as 'backup', like the 5/7 AP Pistol (though this is no akimbo).

if you want to use akimbo pistol with high damage such as deagle, they are fine for offline play with all the ammo boxes for you and bot ammo pickup buff.
As for others, I liked white streak (baby deagle), Castigos also pretty darn good.
