What an embarrassment.
The salt in the wound must be H3's bare minimum effort in the DLC. They just did what they had to do to line their pockets and then left, ignoring that the game and company even exists beyond the checks coming in. There's lessons to be learned there with the whole disaster.
I believe Ethan said in the Keemstar video that Keemstar was accusing him of stealing "hundreds of thousands of dollars," so it's safe to say the DLC made some pretty solid money. Whether "hundreds of thousands" is an exaggeration to make Keemstar's accusations look worse as to paint Keemstar in a worse light or that's genuinely how much money the DLC actually made, we'll probably never know.
With that being said, I wouldn't care if the money was meant to go straight to Ethan from the get-go, it just seems strange to me that so many people were under the impression that this money was going to FUPA. Furthermore, I am curious how many people wouldn't have bought the DLC if they had known the money wasn't going to this charity. I'm sure it would have still made plenty of sales, between H3 fans and people who like to have all the DLC, but I'm sure there were people who were on the fence about buying it who bought it because they thought the money was going to a good cause.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a substantial sum by now as PD2 has a very large player base and sold a lot of DLC in its time. You'd only need the ~100K or so regular semi-regular players to buy a copy to get to hundreds of thousands of dollars, not even the wider base of owners which is in the millions.
If the money is not going to charity then the whole thing is dishonest and I have no idea why Overkill continues to put up with this arrangement of free money to H3.
As it even matters, lol. No one uses Ethan and Hila as mains or even henchmen. The deck "Tag Team" had a decent chance of being something good but they ruined it with the style of execution. The melee weapon is crap and the airbow was the borderline definition of P2W before the concealment got nerfed to oblivion. In short, it's already as if they don't exist in the game anymore. So whatevs
Almir and Tobias would have done better job voice acting than Ethan and Hila
Lol sure dude, sure thing. Could've just said that you like her for that reason, but the fact that you're claiming she's the best character in the entire game for this moot reason is really immature I'll be honest.
There's a reason why every single PD2 character screams during a loud heist. You're in the middle of a heavy gunfight for hours and you have to take care of completing all these objectives while saving your arse from heavy swarm of enemies... Why the eff wouldn't you scream? Especially if you're injured, out of ammo, or need to let your crew about a special or powerful enemy? It's not stealth where everything is quiet and they can just whisper to each other ffs.
Hila is a person who's inherently quiet by nature. Your point is moot. If you like Hila and her quiet voice lines which pretty much nobody can hear unless they were really paying attention, you're free to like em. But don't give me that *best character in the game crap*
Best character in the game? Far, far, far from it. Nice opinion, though.
What I am the most concerned about, and the reason why I wouldn't be against removing that DLC, is that H3H3 did nothing to stop that rumor from spreading. Seems kind of dishonest given that there is no way they didn't know about it.
I bought it myself thinking it was going to the charity... about the only reason I bought it since I use absolutely ♥♥♥♥ all in this pack.
Sydney: "Christ, can you move any slower?"
Bonnie: "Come on then ya Sassenach bastards."
Etc.
They yell this crap at the top of their lungs becauss they're a special kind of special. (All this talk about Hila not belonging in the game makes me laugh because none of the other heisters look or talk like hard core criminals that rob a bank. They're just as out of place as she is.)
