Does Overkill care about hackers in Payday 2?
From what I hear, people only get branded with the cheater tag if they hack in DLC they haven't purchased. However, people that can ghost through walls, kill all NPCs on the map, teleport all map loot straight to their inventory and throw it all at once with a cheated infamy level all walk around without such tags.

I've reported two instances of hacking to info@overkillsoftware.com but I'm not sure if anything gets done about it; not even so much as a canned automatic response to my email.

My last encounter was with a player that ran One Down First World Bank completely legitimately all the way to the end, and then chose to multicarry bags and I suspect killed all the NPCs through that last office to the escape truck. Frustrating to go that far to be forced to quit so I don't profit from an illegitimate run.

This game is peer to peer, which is hard to proof anything happened in-game. So to answer your question, no, for 4 years.

But as it's peer to peer, I as a host always have the right to kick cheaters, and ban-list them, instantly.

not really.

But host has kick powers.

if you have a problem with hackers its up to YOU to host a game and turn on auto-kick.

most hackers host their own games

No actual names were included in the post, but there's not much I can do about recorded proof of what I'm talking about.

But couldn't it be argued that this kind of player should be shamed?

True, but it still goes against the rules set by Steam.

Unless the cheater/hacker IS the host so be careful on calling them out as others who join in unknowingly either quit straight away once they catch on to whats happening or worse join in and gang up on people who report them. Honestly hackers and cheaters in Payday 2 is a cancer as Overkill cant do anything about them due to being peer to peer.

Multicarry bags is actually a mod used by a few people.

If by Multicarry bags you mean carry stacker reloaded? Which is not a mod which is also classify as a cheat in the same category as Silent Assassin.

Kills a bit of the spirit of the game, imo. I'm personally fine with people doing things like unlocking DLC items for themselves or doing things like multicarrying in private lobbies, but utilizing gameplay affecting hacks in public lobbies just doesn't seem right.

They care for them, yes. You wouldn't want to kill off 20 % of your playerbase, now would you?

That's all well and good, but what about cheats that you can't link to a person? Like all the doors opening in Hox Escape, guards all dying in a heist, etc.

Calling Scriptkids "hackers" is an insult to every hacker.
And no, they unfortionally dont give a damn.
