What mods are cheats?
So, I used to play this game a lot and I want to get back into it, but I want to get mods again. I know some mods are considered cheats but I don't remember which ones are the ones to avoid. Help? Just a list will help lots.

mods like pirate perfection mods that give you advantage ig

Here are the most common ones people will throw at you in this.
- The real cheats are: Pirate Perfection, DLC Unlocker, P3DHack, etc. That's all I know, despite my experience.

- The most common mods people will say "cheats" are: Carry Stacker, Meth Helper, Silent Assassin. I don't know the others... Since there isn't a single OVERKILL stamp on any of those mods, it's not classified. Half the community and developers say it is.

If you are playing by yourself/with friends and have those, that's fine. As long as you aren't in public sessions, and destroying their experience.

These are questionable, but definitely not the tool for true cheaters.

- SimpleCrosshair (eliminates the function of iron sighting and usage of laser pointer. Fun fact: PDTH did have a dynamic crosshair and will always visible as long as you're not running or iron sighting.)
- NoPostProcessing (eliminates specific screen color such as color gradient, getting wounded, a warning of pinned down with one last down, and not affected by flashbang screen at all. The mod is actually intended to boost framerate for weaker pc builds or laptops by the way.)
- Any mods which allow to add unusual weapon modifications or changing weapon statistics. Same goes to the Perk Deck.
- Third Person Camera (Despite known to prone to crash. Usually used combo with Free Camera.)
- Free Camera (intended for making screenshots in single player. This mod is considered as game changing because you can move your position in unusual way and also change time frame or simply pause it).
- Remove Captain Winter's vulnerability (some of us find Cpt. Winter's immortality ability is ridiculous, and this is why the mod exists.)

etc. etc. etc. Feel free to CMIIW.

Actually, OVERKILL officially called Silent Assassin a cheat so there is a stamp on it.

Better Bots, Cooking Faster, Weapon Rebalances, Berserker Live Matters, Meth Manager, Unhittable Armour, Silent Assassin, Carry Stacker, Contours for keycards, crowbars, meth ingredients and other equipment, No Pager on domination, overpowered custom perk decks, RNG Modifier, Big Oil Engine Finder/Helper and a lot more mods I can't remember right now. I also consider informational HUDs cheaty because of the all informations they're providing. In my opinion is ok to use these mods offline or in your lobby as long as you're not ruining the game for others.

this is why nobody takes you guys seriously, even mention mods that fixes and enhances waypathing and capabilities of a simple bot are considered a cheat when its actually enhancing immersion and speed of the game, the ability to properly play without people who probably wont ever use discord anyway even if they pretend to want something done that takes at least a bit of practise and of course theres that vac ban stamp on your account.. just absolutely glorious.

this guy gets it, theres a difference between real cheats and altering the gameplay experience and theres an enormous difference with "peoples opinions/feelings vs factual information"

probably the most self-important players ever seen on this community who probably never cared about real challenges, ranking, seasonal ladder, matchmaking, rating or anything even relatable to breaking the sense of ruining challenges to begin with, yet has to be out there with their virtue signaling like some sort of nolife twitter abominations who thrive of the sensation of feeling important for absolutely no reason at all.

"uhh duuhr, that addon tells you the ingredients for my pancake mix.. totally unplayable"
"what, youre changing the way the game is played ? CHEATER!"
- but, im actually tweaking those things to be balanced in terms of th-
"CHEATER!!, REEEEEEEE!"

you need it in order to make pace of the game faster than it was originally and for ai to find you or your assigned target location properly if you wish to command bots in the game on singleplayer smartypants

Everything that changes the mechanics of a game against the intended way, no matter if it makes it easier or not, is a cheat, fact.

And here is a post from Almir, so, this discussion should be pointless, no matter which path it takes:

I just leave it here because, yes, this discussion is pointless.

Is Kong's Shotgun Mod a cheat? It fixes the terribly low ammo count on some shotguns and I'm thinking of downloading it

Potentially yes. As long as it's not Pirate Perfection, DLC Unlocker, P3DHack, etc., I usually don't mind.

... they actually did. I remember when I got a warning from admins for recommending Silent Assassin despite me obviously being sarcastic.

"changes the mechanics" yes, the purpose of mods, modifications, modifying the game."
