It still might be not, I'm not sure, just they say it helps with framerate.

You: Does PhysX boost FPS?
Logic: More physics effects? It sure is more work for a PC.

At first he asked if using NVidia PhysX hardware acceleration boosts FPS in PD2. Then he asked if he can disable it. It's not about physics, it's about PhysX.

Nvidia PhysX is software to simulate real time physical objects in games like fluids. It makes stuff go floaty and fluidy.

I actually remember reading something about PhysX increasing FPS by being more advanced than conventional methods, but Nvidia does say that about all their inventions.

It depends on the game, and the bottlenecks in the PC, if there are any. If it adds extra things*, then it probably lowers the framerate, as the extra things must be rendered too by the GPU. If it just handles the physics, then it takes off load off the CPU, which can help with the framerate, IF the CPU was the bottleneck.

*I didn't really paid attention to PhysX. The last game I checked what it changes was friggin' Mirror's Edge in 2009. In that game it added glass particles, flags, and those plastic flaps on the doorways. I don't know what it does in Payday2.
