Big Oil?
So I'm following the storyline... and the current step I'm at appears to be Big Oil. This is a massive ♥♥♥♥♥how. I'm enjoying PAYDAY 2 so far, but Big Oil is far too harsh especially on the requested difficulty to be feasible. The military turns off the lab's power all the time, the """clue""" in form of the clipboard doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ help (what am I supposed to do with the knowledge of 2 Hydrogen? That's not even a tank that the engine can USE!) and the entire thing is just utterly tedious. The fact that certain intel items are missable on day 1 just by EXISTING anywhere near the building doesn't help.

I don't know how to do this and, frankly, it's not fun anymore. If at least I knew what to do with the clipboard """clue"""...

EDIT: I looked up a guide and this is insane. I came here to play a videogame and not get a PhD in chemistry...

The Big Oil clues actually make it very clear once you understand them and see the engines. How many hoses, what color of gas bottle and the pressure. The pressure value is the only one people really goof on sometimes and that still narrows it down to only two choices if you don't have that 50/50. None of it though involves much thought beyond the pressure reading.

You can actually stealth this map right up to the helicopter arriving too. If you have the right engine at that point you're only there a few minutes and the police barely have time to assault you. A tricky stealth though.

The board in the lab downstairs tells you what the gas means. If you don't care and just want gameplay, the wiki has the steps to solve the puzzle, and even a page with a calculator that does the puzzle for you if you have the 3 clues

Setup overlay browser with day2 engine map
Do the heist, find clue, matches the clues with the engine map

just play public big oil, someone will eventually know how to find it

there are 3 hints around the map. Just select options they tell you and it will show which one you're looking for

I always use engine calculator when playing this heist, itr a very big help if you find clues, also shows exactly the engine number you need to get.

PRO TIP: you can stealth the beginning (as it is loud anyway) to avoid power interruptions, stealth there is one of the easiest.

I have made another two attempts, and at this point I can't even get into the lab anymore before just wiping entirely. Stealth is a crapshoot because my bodies constantly get seen despite being bagged and tossed, and going loud just lets all the enemies literally turn off my objectives, so at this point I'm not even sure why I bother? Though attempting to solo this with the AI is probably not the best idea.

If you're new to the game big oil might a bit difficult with the open areas.
You can however same some time by opening the set er door with an ecm. The windows on the first floor tell you where the server room is (if it isn't on the first floor open the one on the ground floor). This skips the drilling time and gets you some backing done before the cops can turn off the power.
While waiting for the hack: search the house for clues! There should be at least one note displaying either the gas or number of nozzles. The computer in the basement always displays the pressure.
If you're playing with a friend: have that one wait outside while you're picking up the engine. As soon as you bag one the flare can be dropped. While you're making your way over to the airstrip the helicopter might arrive as well. If you're lucky and you got the plane key bunker down at the plane since that will be your new escape.
Oh and don't try stealthing it. It turns loud immediately after your helicopter arrives. There is no avoiding that.
Hope I could be of help to you!

Holy heck, thanks! To be honest, I forgot about the ECM Jammer. I'll give that a try, though I'm still not sure if I should be doing this by myself.

Always happy to help :) and if you're still not able to get through it and need an extra gun just say the word

you dont need a phd on chem, its not that hard, locate the three things then match them to the stuff

> or < look for the pressure gauge, > means the one more to the right, the one more to the left (assuming you have many candidate matches)

H, 2H, 3H, look for the tubes coming out of the big tank, 1, 2 or 3

And the chem, match the color of the small tank

theres only 2 cases you get screwed -unless that was finally fixed, one where none match and another where two match, I think those are between #7 and #10 but i may be misremembering

And I thought Big Oil was a comfy heist

Sneaking in will be easier and more efficient, the only thing you need to know is how to find the right engine, AI crews will help you to defend cops.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

WHAT IF: All along the ingredients for actual fusion research was there and OVK had us calculate and work out all this stuff in the hope that someone would stumble across the real formula for fusion in this accurate physics simulator?

Of course! That's why the meth formula is wrong! They're electrolysing salt water for the fusion engine!
