Trigger Happy akimbo
So I just read somewhere on these forums that both the first and the second shot from an akimbo pistol set can trigger trigger happy, but the second shot (still the same mouse click) won't benefit from trigger happy when it was the first shot that activated it. Trigger happy will only be actively used when you click the mouse again (so that would be the 3rd and the 4th shot). Is this true? And if it is, why in heaven's name does it work like this? Critical hits are calculated per hit on the enemy, right? Why not this one? Could someone please explain?

probably because while they are independent hits they are being counted as the same "shot" in the sense of a single press i believe, but this is just me guessing since i don't know anything about codding

This sounds about right, especially for OVERKILL's spaghetti code. One tap/One akimbo dual shot = one shot to the game, when it comes to Akimbos. So Trigger Happy wouldn't apply it's damage until the start of the second tap.
I can take a look at the Lua. But from my limited understanding it's because since Lua is single-threaded it calculates each hit sequentially, and so the first bullet triggers TH and the second shot receives the bonus. It has a cooldown of 2secs and a stack limit of 1, which means it'll only affect one bullet every 2sec. They could tweak it to check for Akimbo Weapons, place a one shot delay, and then increase the stack limit to two. That way the it'll function like non-Akimbo variants.

Thank you for your asnwers guys. However, things are not clear to me yet.

Could you confirm for me that trigger happy only actively works after the second mouse click, when it was the first mouse click (the first or second shot) that activated it?

Because this would seriously make me reconsider my trigger happy akimbo build.

From testing just now I can confirm the second shot of the button press does not receive the bonus.
The math is weird. Apparently it seems the second shot never receives damage bonuses from Trigger Happy.

I appreciate your reply!

Hmmm, might have to reconsider my build now.

Why? Trigger Happy with Akimbos is stupidly strong no matter if it applies to both shots or not.
My goto build is a DB shotgun as a secondary and Akimbo Broomsticks for Dozer kills.
A single revolver simply has not enough damage to break the faceplate, the glass shield and kill the Dozers 12k health.

I am considering acing the skill to 4 second instead of 2, which would cost me a couple of extra skill points. I don't know what I want to sacrifice. Also, instead of a trigger happy build, I could also go for a crit build. Not sure what's better.

Oh that. No, keep it at Basic. That time is enough to pop any normal or Special. You either focus on one for 1-2 seconds and shred it, or you pop head after head. It's a skill like Bullseye.

Would you recommend a trigger happy build over a crit build?

What I like about the trigger happy build is that I don't have to consider concealment. However, I'm not sure what's stronger overall.

Depends on which difficulty. I don't know if you need both below DS, haven't tested it yet. I assume if you have a gun for mass murdering of grunts, you can go for Trigger Happy only for Specials. On DS you'd need both.

Death wish. Death sentence is a bit above my skill level at the moment!

I am not looking for a build that has both. I would like to hear from you what your opinion is: do you think a trigger happy akimbo build is stronger than a crit akimbo build?
Jostabeere Mar 1, 2020 @ 11:00am
Which akimbos do you intend to use. Low damage ones or high damage ones? Which secondaries, which perkdeck, etc.

Oh ok, it's like that huh lol, way more complicated than I thought :D

I normally use a body expertise build with LMGs on DW. I can use all LMGs with comparable results, so I didn't think it would make much of a difference when it comes to the akimbo build. I want a pistol akimbo build and I want to be able to use all of the pistols with comparable results. Guess that won't work then, huh?

I always use Anarchist, and always carry the 5/7 AP as secondary when I use akimbos.
Jostabeere Mar 1, 2020 @ 11:14am
If you're askind me, the 5/7 is a horrible choice.
If I were you I would change it to an AoE gun. A GL or a Flamethrower (If I remember correctly one is a secondary?) or a DB shotgun. If you OHK Shields, you could use the Arbiter.
That was you have a good shield/Dozer faceplate weapon. In such case I'd go with the highest damage akimbos you can go which are self-sustainable. You'd use those to shred Specials outside of shields and Dozers.
Or you could use a high RoF SMG secondary. In that case I would also get crits. The SMG would be for Specials or Shields with Shock and Awe. The akimbos could be low damage ones since you'd use them for the grunts only.
3 pistols is a huge waste of potential imo unless you use an auto pistol for Dozers and medium damage akimbos for everything else.
