Private profiles, level 0 profiles, low levels joining high difficulty heists, there are many different possible reasons, with private profile probably among the greatest of them. People will commonly kick someone with a private profile because it can be very difficult to tell whether someone is a cheater if their profile is private, as they cannot check the amount of hours played, achievements earned, and dates of the achievements earned without the profile being public, or compare any of that to what the person has and what their infamy or level is.

Does the game not have an anticheat??? So stupid that you get banned for just having a friends only profile imo. Oh well, gonna host my own games then.

Unfortunately not, the only "anti-cheat" is that your name gets marked with a red CHEATER if you have items that aren't available with the DLC you own, which also marks some people who use family sharing.

NGBTO only automates the kick. It doesn't automatically ban.

No one said anything about NGBTO, there are almost certainly other mods doing similar things.

The ban list originates from NGBTO though?

Nope.
And Fox is right, none of the mods that DO use a banlist issue a 'kicked and banned' message.
Only manual bans do that.

I only know 1 mod
that auto bans people in pd2.
http://modwork.shop/21487
so if it was an auto ban well then...
There are numerous reasons why someone might get a kick. I get kicked for having infamy 25-100, for wearing OD mask, for not bringing armor, you name it... either host your own game or make your profile public and hope you run into a normal host.

The kicks :
- If you get kicked before entering the lobby, it's mod called NGBTO. It's pretty rare nowadays(coz there was huge hate campaign against it and mod creator abandoned it). There are also other kick options(within the mod), but most people use the one I mentioned. I should also mention it's pretty decent anti cheater tool.
- The one you have experienced is the manual kick and ban. If you enter the lobby and host goes into options, just leave. There is 95% chance he is gonna kick you from my experience.
- There is also Lost connection to the host. This one is usually manual kick during the heist(by non-NGBTO user). Yes it says that you lost connection(which sometimes is true), but actually you were kicked.

Best option to be honest i also started to host my own when people started kicking others for stupid reasons such as not taking a certain path to an objective etc.
