Anyone notice the sheer amount of cops?
I was doing jewlery store on normal (haven't played since 2015 and noticed the story line stuff)
and within the first 7 minutes there were literally over a hundred cops.

They weren't even slightly difficult to kill, due to the fact that literally none of them could withstand one bullet.

When I played in 2015-16ish, I remember there being much less cops, they had more health and spawned much less frequently.
I could literally camp on their spawn in the goat sim level and watch them be replaced the moment I killed them.

To top it all off, when you get "a breather" it literally last for about 20 seconds before another swarm sets in.

What the hell happened? Im so lost as to what happened.

TL;DR game is becoming more like left4dead in terms of combat.

Someone else can go into more detail about it.

The game has gotten much more horde-shooterish lately. The IA update means that the cops are now independent and are basically aimbots on high difficulties. Their spawn cap skyrocketed, apparently.

Hopefully they'll be less enemies in future updates, and they'll get back reinforce groups that were deleted.

You are late to the party. We already discussed the spawn cap raise and the non-existant break times. I recommend reading the News section or the PAYDAY 2 Wiki's PC Updates page.

They sorta added their own version of the Full Speed Swarm mod recently.

Yep! I've also noticed a recent nonsense increase.

Not really, they just made it so its consistent across PCs because players on potatoes had it much easier than those with good PCs/those running FSS. FSS does much more than just make cops more responsive (besides the sheer number of cops in vanilla is still too much for the set 60 hz tickrate to handle without FSS anyway).

Thats actually good? Cause L4D2 actually can get quite difficult even on normal if team doesnt cooperate.

Yeah, sorry. AI is in English, IA in French... I mixed the two up.

Running FSS+Iter and did a test with bots. Put my bots in spot where they could barely shoot cops. Max. numbers of cops were : 65 normal cops and 2 shields. I was not shooting at all and bots sometimes killed some cops who came at their line of sight.
I cleared whole wave under 5 seconds and Assault ended.
Seems like you are not killing cops fast enough.
Here is screenshot of second assault(bots were in the room on right) : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1324382605
It was kinda hard to make since they were meleeing me left and right :D But yeah I might understand this might be a little overwhelming for new/returning players.

Tbh I prefer bulletsponge cops to zombie cop hordes. The game feels way more broken and more of a let down than it used to be.

The two games have a pretty different combat dynamic, though, which makes the comparison break down.

While both are designed to accentuate co-op, l4d enemies are almost entirely melee-based. Pd2 enemies overarchingly use hitscan weapons at range, meaning that whether or not the player takes damage is much more RNG. In this setting, massively increasing the number of enemies, or enemy damage at range, breaks the gameplay.

Imagine l4d if all the infected were shooting you.

Payday 2 despite having ranged enemies is way too easy compared to L4D2 due to variety of OP builds and highly modifiable guns.

L4D doesnt have perk decks, inspire, armors, ability to carry more than one aid kit at time or means to regenerate health from kills etc etc

True i would prefer more tactical approach with the AI but meh more cops dont change much
