why are there so many russians playing the game now for no reason

i swear before the border crossing update, i've seen only like 5 full-on russian speaking players through all my hours of playing. after the update, why are there so many russian usernames and people that speak russian for no reason? i've always played on na west servers or servers around there. whats the deal?

The answer is simple... There is more russians playing right now. There is not much more to it than that.

Unless you know russian, chances are you will get kicked, which will be best case scenario, otherwise you will be mocked, berated and possibly screwed over somehow just because you're from the "big bad rotting west". Even if you know russian, you'll run into way more hackers when dealing with russians than with other kinds of players.

It's quite hilarious to reveal that I know russian and leave after like 30 minutes of having every sin in the world pinned on me by such people.

I play with russians often and I do not have that much issues. I am actually surprised by that.
