PAYDAY 2

Why I'm buying the Border Crossing Heist DLC:
Lets get something straight: Overkill has made major mistakes in the past. Poorly planned Crimefests, selling out their company, restricting modding, lootboxes, the absolutely abandoned state of Payday 2 for consoles, etc.

However- I feel like unlike alot of other developers, Overkill has people within it that genuinely care about the game and it's community. They pushed out major update events that were tons of fun. They bought back the company after realizing that the direction they took was wrong. They unrestricted modding, nerfed lootboxes, pushed out tons of free updates and even went as far to release a great VR port of the game for free. While recently selling their game for dirt-cheap.

That is why this DLC release feels different than any other- they broke their promise of putting an end to Payday 2 because Overkill as a developer is close to coming to an end. I believe a developer like Overkill deserves to continue existing solely on the basis that they (eventually) learn from their mistakes.

Like any good contract: If they work hard for us and deliver on the goods, they deserve success.

That and the thought of playing a new Heist is a good excuse to play the game again and spam turrets.

Bo Andersson is gone, so...

Na were good, overkill deserves to be in the spot they are in. After milking and nickel and diming the community, they do not deserve a third and fourth chance. When they go bankrupt they will finally have learned their lesson......

I'm just hoping they put in enough time to make the heist run well.

Let's talk when you grow up and understand business, pal. It's not OVKs fault that they're bankrupt, it's mainly Bo Andersson who has been removed from the company.

Now that Bo is gone, i hope someone else doesn't take his place and do the exact same mistakes of overselling and -hyping a project.

They've learned from their mistakes.

Hopefully.

Are you alright? Did Overkill's business practice kill your parents?

No. But I know how you got these.

The VR update being free is one I think people keep forgetting about. It's one of the biggest and best VR games out there that I've seen. Most VR games are just cheap little indie toys than proper full games like PD2. They let the VR and non-VR play together too so as not to split the community and they gave it away for free to all PD2 players when they could have easily have made it an expensive DLC or a new game or game variant.

I'll be getting the DLC bundle because it is good value, I've wanted to see more options for outfits in the game, I love getting new heists to explore and I have been asking and almost begging for them to get back to making PD2 paid for content for a long time now during their financial crisis and even before it hit the fan as I knew that I could only keep getting more PD2 if there was a fair exchange back and forth to pay for it and give incentives for more content and development.

After them doing what I've been asking and hoping they'd do, even going so far as to add the nice idea of clothes variants and bundle deals that I had mentally categorized as a pipe dream "would be nice" thing, I'd be an outrageous hypocrite to not follow up and get this. :hoxton:

Maybe you should stop being a fanboy shill learn about shady business practices. Also it is OVKs fault cause they still raked in the money from all the ♥♥♥♥ they pulled. Even if Bum Bo is gone, it doesn't change the fact that that they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all over the community.

As someone who has played about 700 hours, and has been here since the gage pack 2. I've seen all the ♥♥♥♥. From the black market, to the pencil, to the DLC.

I've seen a lot of your comments on these threads, and I wonder if you understand what OK going bankrupt means.

It means a lot of people losing their job, it means the PD2 servers possibly shutting down, it means no PD3.

Them breaking a promise is not their fault. They have no choice.

If they weren't going bankrupt, then this would be a cash grab for greeds sake. But since they are, we should support them. Especially since all the ♥♥♥♥ ups were to do with a totally different person who no longers works at OK.

That being said, don't blindly support them. If the content is good, and appealing, buy it. If it isn't, don't.

Don't be a sheep, but stay neutral about new content until you have proof that it's good or bad

It's not like they're asking for money for nothing. They are selling what I was already happily buying before and kept asking for more! It's fair business. I appreciate too that they're introducing the bundle idea for reasonable pricing and adding some new things I know people were interested in, including myself.

Other than the "please be my slave and work on games for free while you all live in a squatter's hideout with stolen electricity and equipment to work with" option which some seem to feel is the alternative they promote I don't see how this could go any better for us.
