Frames stuck on 144 FPS [V-Sync off in-game & geforce program]
So I've only just got my new pc and now I'm able to get high frame rates... But the second day of playing the pc I realised my fps is locked on games such as H1Z1. I've validated, reinstalled, restarted and restored settings making sure vsync is not on at all. I've looked at other posts but they all have kids saying "why are you complaining about 144hz" Firstly, response time and me wanting to have the ability to have higher frames for the price I paid... if anyone knows how to fix this it would be appreciated.

I don't even play CSGO[2] That game is like 10 years outdated, I'll better play R6 or something else :/
I'm pretty happy if I get 60fps is games since my monitor has 60hz and simply can't produce more frames than 60
Maybe play vsync on every game then :D
Nah, vsync is a very bad thing, it cuts perfomance (game do pretty much everything only on those frames.) And if you got 59 fps then vsync will drop them to 30

Nope if you get 59 fps vsync wont drop it to 30

But it should do this to make the game smoother since your 60hz monitor can't produce 59fps correctly:wht:

Nope it doesnt. If you cant hit 60 fps its like you dont use vsync. Οf course if you want 30 fps you can cap it. Or you can use adaptive vsync. There are a lot of options but yeah if you just use vsync for 60 fps and you cant reach that number nothing happens

Hey guys, I know this discussion got a bit heated but I figured out the issue. The issue was the new Nvidia geforce drivers for the GTX 1060. I rolled back the previous driver and now I have higher framed apreciate some of the comments, but even when I said i don't want people saying "why are you complaining about 144fps" people still said it... it doesn't help the issue it results in nothing but time wasting. I suggest you guys roll back your drivers to a previous driver. Thanks, WhyPickANameTM

Honestly, I took 15 minutes to Google and got various answers even from 2 years ago.

144Hz is the highest refresh rate I know of. What monitor do you have that going above 144 FPS would make difference in visuals?

You would just create screen tearing...
Does it matter... if I pay the money to have higher... I want higher
You PAID for 144 Hz it sounds like. You physically can't see the higher FPS as your monitor can't display it because it refreshes 144 times a second, and anything over 144 won't make it in which is why screen tearing exists.

You're litterally burning your graphics card for no reason at all. But whatever.

Edit: Basically your GPU sends 200 frames. Your monitor can only display 144, so it just displays what it can and moves on to the next second. So your GPU is doing more work for nothing.

It better to have more as you wont go under 144 fps causing inconsistant frames if it was over 144...

If you cap your fps it wont go below 144 as long as your game can easily handle 144 fps

Trust me man... vsync will make your fps go lower than 144... no matter if you get 300 fps without it..

Your monitor might have G sync
