How do I turn off the random FPS drops?
So, about a month ago I had to uninstall Payday 2 because not only did I get huge FPS drops triggered by absolutely nothing, but the game refused to start up after a while of this.

I recently reinstalled the game and it's been fine for a few weeks, but the FPS drop issue has happened to me yet again.

Like, really? Are the developers really so stupid that they have to program random FPS drops into their game?

AND THAT'S NOT ALL. The FPS drops aren't even consistent. Sometimes they're constant FPS drops, but other times they rapidly bounce between a high FPS and a low FPS, and it's the most disorienting, annoying, infuriating, blood-boiling thing I have ever experienced in my entire life.

Back to my main question: is there any way to turn off this "feature"? I don't know about any of you, but I prefer NOT to have my framerate drop randomly. I also prefer NOT to have to reinstall my game because of it.

The worst part is that this is happening when I'm trying to get the keys for the Arbiter. So, now I have to start the heist all over again just because of a pointless framerate issue.

Again: HOW DO I TURN THIS OFF? And don't tell me "upgrade your PC" or "lower the settings" because I'm able to run other games just fine on high settings. If my PC can run GTA V on maximum settings at a stable >60 FPS, then it should be able to run PD2 at the absolute lowest possible settings without having a framerate seizure (that's the only word I can use to describe it).

For the love of god, someone tell me how to turn this off so I can enjoy the damn game.

UPDATE:
Now, whenever I minimize the game it takes two times longer than usual to maximize. Not only that, but it flashes this white screen at me after maximizing it.

At this point, I have no clue what is going on,

Thanks this should help, but why does Triple Buffering being set to Off make the FPS drops happen only occasionally? If it's due to a setting, shouldn't the FPS just be consistently low?

If you have vsync on and triple buffering off, you are using double buffering. With double buffering if for what ever reason you cannot keep the game running at 60 fps, it will drop it hard down to 30 fps. So if you would be able to run it 59 fps, it will drop it to 30.

Triple buffering will add some (like one frame worth or something small like that) latency to the game, but I prefer it over the tearing and wasting power when disabling vsync.

e: You also could try keeping the triple buffering off and enabling adaptive vsync in the drivers. But for me, payday 2 doesn't play well with that setting with the latest drivers and I get a tear line right in the middle of the screen and that is super annoying.

Gsync solve all your problems

What you don't seem to understand is that Payday 2 is incredibly unoptimized and that GTA V is optimized extremely well. You're always going to have framerate issues with payday 2 if your specs aren't overkill. The only thing you can do is turn down your settings or overclock your hardware.

This solved all my problems. Only works with AMD Ryzen CPU, but you can try if you don't have one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsaU-6QOpCw

Not only is this a big necro, but the OP was banned at some point. Good job.
