OVERKILL Ruined payday 2 for me
I have so many mods installed... And now most of them are not working/lost their setings. New BLT does not allow you to edit options of not-up-to-date mods, the worst part is that most of them are not up-to-date and they won't be updated like... ever....
Without my precious mods, there's no way i'm going to play this game

Reasoning: is there a way to bypass this new BLT restrictions to change settings of old mods?

Your profile disagrees with the 'beginning' part of this statement. And being able to solo one down is a subjective skill that is based on your framerate. This game and the word 'skill' need to be taken with a grain of salt.

However, to actually try and answer your question:

The guy that updates blt works at overkill under the name or alias Wilko (I presume name) unless I am mistaken. Anywho, this is why we got a patch within hours if not sooner of the update introducing luajit. Speaking of luajit, this is why your mods don't work. Not because blt updated, but because overkill changed how modding worked at a core level. If you want to make your mods stop crashing your game, then I suggest learning to code yourself or wait until the mod authors update their versions. If the mod itself works with blt 2.0 currently but you cannot access the options, then go into the code and manually change the options if you can. I am not sure how to do this for every mod, but I do know that usually the mod author would make an option some kind of changeable value in a line of code that clearly references the option itself. Use notepad and try reading the lua you may be surprised to find it isn't that hard. Think of it as math.

Yes, i know, that's what i said at the beginning, but then they confused me. Why would you rework mods system after 5 years of game existance? Thy knew from the start that it will ruin a lot of mods... And yes, i tried changing mod options manualy, it works sometimes, but it's too inconvenient and most of them still won't work... ever-ever again T_T

Reinstall hoxhud.

Some mods may still work if they are compatible with the mod override system, try that for some of your broken mods.

They didn't rework the way modding worked, they updated the lua library the game uses to luajit to improve performance and game stability which just meant the old BLT hook that used regular lua no longer functions. Overkills job is to improve the game, not babysit mods so they can continue working forever.

So maybe ask mod creators why they dont update their own mods?

It's not really the developer's fault that your mods are outdated.
Jim Hoxworth Oct 3, 2017 @ 9:39am
The game really wasn’t made to be modded. Modding messes with the actual code of the game. And the mods code are foreign to the source code. So yes there is going to be problems. The only way I see this ceasing to be a problem in theory is when they stop supporting the game. Then it will not update anymore so mods won’t break because no more content or updates will cause the mod to break.

Yeah, ♥♥♥♥ Overkill for still updating their game, how dare they do such a heartless thing.

Protip, Jimbo: if your mods are outdated, it's the creators' fault. Overkill can be blamed for a lot of things, but this isn't one of them. Think a little before making one of those blog posts that could be solved with a simple search. My BLT is working fine after I updated to the latest version, and ALL my mods are working correctly.
