Game of the Year Edition

I have an old gift copy of the GOTY edition, and it says that it includes the Ultimate Edition in it. I was wondering if it actually includes the Ultimate Edition or if the text is a mistake. I want to know because my friend might buy the Ultimate Edition but we don't want to have different amounts of DLC in interest of fairness.

In theory, it will include all of the DLC's listed. The Ultimate Edition is what the base game is called now. You'll still need to buy the UE Bundle to get the rest of the DLC's, however.

Since you have the GOTY edition, you only have the dlcs listed. If your friend were to buy UE, he will have every piece of dlc.

You can buy the UE bundle which gives all the dlc for a discounted price so that you can be at an equal playing field if that is really important to you.

As others have said, GOTY says it includes "Payday: Ultimate Edition" because the base game was renamed to that, but that is not the same as the Ultimate Edition bundle which includes all store DLC.


Redeeming the GOTY Edition will give you (or your friend) all the DLC you've listed above in the OP, but that is not every DLC that is included in the Ultimate Edition bundle.
But, if you redeem GOTY and then buy the UE bundle, it will be cheaper because the UE is a dynamic bundle that discounts itself based on how much content you already own.

So if you both want the same amount of content, the GOTY can become the UE for a small pricetag. Much smaller than buying the UE all by itself.
