How to use the Alienware LightFX function?

I have played this game for two years and i was wondering how this function works until today i get my first alienware, then i found the function is no use! It only turn all lights down......Is it because wrong setting or the fuction has no use at the beginning? Thx

The default LightFX is pretty underwhelming, as far as I know it's supposed to just change the color during assaults.
